Player Destiny Udogie

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He is not an inverted full back but he can fuck off because he doesn’t show any enthusiasm for the game. He’s a lazy boy who jogs about far too much. He’s in a privileged position playing for this club so the bare minimum is hard work, desire, intensity and enthusiasm. He shows fuck all of that and I can’t get behind a player like that. Johnson is another who plods about half hearted that I can’t be fucked with.
We spend fortunes travelling the length and breadth of the country and we deserve more from what we are seeing. Guys like Udogie and Johnson don’t deserve what we give up for them. Fucking done with trying to stick up for them but it’s gone too far for me.

When a fan of your standing starts calling players out then it’s time to take note and get worried.

And you’re right. The fans such as yourself who invest heavily into the team with all sorts of resources do deserve more.

I’m no medical or training expert, so asking this with positive intent.

Why does the way we train / play leads to more hamstring injuries? Wouldn’t long term play like this not strengthen that area rather than weaken it?

Yeah with more use The hamstring gets tighter and tighter, think like a elastic band .. The tighter it gets arguably the weaker it gets , 2 tight, it restricts blood flow and therefore oxygen flow ... BUT The REAL issue is not just over use .. but NOT stretching them out enough.

Appreciate that. I’m Scottish, so not so much with the exercise thing. Hence the question.

So, Ange’s fault for not insisting on stretching or the player for not doing it?

It’s fatigue from playing games that will be the cause of this. They are t training much just now because of the amount of games. Before every training session they do strengthening exercises as a pre warm up so this is down to how we play. Our full backs will do so much more running in a game than a conventional full back. They are up and down the pitch constantly,in the pitch twisting and turning constantly, recovery running constantly and this will take its toll eventually. Porro is next to go.
In VDV’s case he’s getting asked to constantly cover for a full back and it’s not just 10 yard sprints,it’s 40 yarders at times which again will take its toll the amount of times that it has to happen.

I watch Van Dijk, Robertson, Trent and they sprint like lunatics for 90 mins. As hard if not harder than ours. Why are they so resistant to this problem with as great or greater intensity. It’s like we need to study Liverpool’s fitness regime.

These guys do loads of stretching and strengthening exercises that it’s more likely fatigue. They get rubs every day before and after training too. It’s catching up with our players.

Exactly.

It would lead to hamstring injuries at the start but we've been playing and training like this for 18 months. The ;logical things would be for the players bodies to be firmly in the adaptation phase.

The completely separate issue we have now is load and because the of the injuries the players have a much greater load on them and that WILL be causing injuries IMO because they aren't adapted to that.
