his attempt at defending against palmer for the 3rd shows you exactly what sort of defender he is. fucking awful.

new manager needs to bin him off, this guy is not the one. terrible defender, not good enough on the ball, offers his team fuck all, hes a liability really.
 
Doesn’t seem to show any responsibility or urgency when defending. Just ambles back when someone goes by him. Doesn’t make up for it the other end either. Rubbish in the final third too. New LB is a must.
 
He’s fucking torture. Shows Neto inside on to his left all game. Plods about with no urgency and is the laziest defender I’ve seen at Tottenham in 20 years. Offers very little going forward now too. Can’t defend anything over his head and can’t stop crosses.

For Ange to keep playing him means he’s culpable but for me he offers next to nothing just now. He needs a manager who’s constantly on him coaching him through the game because he’ll not do it off his own back. Spence must be better than him defensively and he’s definitely better going forward. He’s got considerably slower and less energetic in a season.

I remember ages ago posting about a terrible mistake I think it led to a goal and some joker said young player he will learn that wasn't my point I was asking why any player would do something like that is it a fault they havem

Doesn’t seem to be any accountability from teammates, coaches or manager. All to nice or slack

I think there are several that have been overplayed and now starting to feel it, such as Deki and Solanke.

I know this will go against the grain/mood tonight but I still think he could be good - the regression has been so scary this season it can't just be the player. I don't think he's being coached, he has moments of quality but I truly believe with good guidance he can cut out the dumb shit, he has the tools to be good.

There is no way Udogie has lost the ability he had a year ago. What’s changed is he’s overplayed and completely uncoached defensively in a system that I don’t think works defensively as a unit.

He’s got worse because of the club’s inept coaching and tactics. Read this thread this time last year, people thought we had a world beater in the making.

This guy is talented. A year ago or so he was winning almost all his 1v1s and bombing up and down to contribute. He had bad moments and games but the positives were way more frequent.

He’s a good talent who has gone backwards due to shit coaching and being run in to the ground. Unchallenged starting spot at his age as a defender is fucking crazy. Ludicrous stuff goes on at this football club.

He is one to keep and he is one who I have no doubt will go on to have a great career. Terrible performances of late and yeah, drop him! He probably needs some fucking rest and somebody who knows how to coach a defence.

Another one btw who has picked up quite a few injuries here it seems and plays most games looking shagged out and like a hammy could go at any moment. Our players are constantly half cooked.
 
He looks bulkier, or bluntly, seems to put on weight, to me and lose his speed. Without speed, he's nothing. Passing was shit. Gave away the ball countless times in dangerous positions. Everytime I see him and Biss losing the balls I feel terrified. They will lose it in somewhere critical and easily for opponents to exploit.

Davies playing at LB has better passing range than him even if he's slower. But I doubt not by much now.

Coaching? He can’t or won’t do the basics!!! Sprint back,sprint out to a wide player and stop crosses,show a wide man down the line,open and get his body position correct when crosses are coming in from the other side are all basics and should not need that coached at 20 years of age playing at one of the biggest clubs in the EPL. He’s a lazy defender and doesn’t give a fuck. If he did he’d do those things.

Exactly. He’s coasting after getting his contract. He’s all style no substance. It’s got nothing to do with being overplayed. Maybe someone on him constantly will light a fire under his arse but it’s difficult to instil attitude imo.

his 'style' is literally controlling the ball with the outside of his heel or some shit, thats his attempt to look 'cool'. hes a shit, no end product, no aggression, no intensity, passing and decision making is shit. worst of all, he doesnt know how to defend at all, cole palmer has dropped a shoulder for the third does a little turn and udogie has ended up closer to the away fans than he has palmer, everytime he plays he displays how poor he is at defending, hes thick as shit.

his poor defending in one on ones is a display of his lack of football intelligence. positioning and shutting off the goal should be innate, yet this idiot will position himself to help the attacker.

Bit harsh. He’s got ability. He has a very good first touch and he’s a good ball carrier through the middle third, good close control. The rest of his game is a bit of a let down. Not sure a new manager can make him want to defend. You probably either got it or not. He’s just so blasé when someone goes at him.

Not going to write him off but I would be looking for a new left back as serious competition

Craig Burley not impressed with Destiny Udogie​

Burley was extremely critical of the positions that Udogie took up while the Blues were pouring down their right in the second period.

While the pundit admitted that he is a fan of the Italian, he insisted that the 22-year-old’s positional sense needs a lot of improvement.

Burley told ESPN FC: “I was watching Destiny Udogie during the second half and half the time he was in a position that was neither left back nor left midfield. It was kind of in between and I am thinking, ‘Where is he? Where is his game awareness?’

“It was so easy for Chelsea to get down that right-hand side, but he is not the only one. I think he is a very, very good player, but his positional sense as a full-back at times is just terrible.”
