Reminiscent of the season Leicester won it, the regular big teams had a season off, and Tottenham just never had the belief to go all the way.
Yeah. When we appointed him I was sceptical. We looked a rabble. Lost a game then he bailed out. Job waa too big for him imo. Jol done really well steadying the ship.
I think the 15-16 team was more flawed than it was a mental belief issue. We had fuck all depth and Poch bungled some big matches. The lads legs went some time around March (an absolutely terrible month) and we couldn’t keep up the intensity.
We stumbled into a title race that year by dint of just improving faster than expected.
It was the Scum who dropped the title that year.
The very business end poch made mistakes. Should have used Son more in the run-in. It werent the chelsea game that killed. Drawing at home to wba was the killer game. 2nd half we just backed off. Did the same v chelsea at the bridge being 2 nil up.
I did say he was trying. Not that we were able to do it at all times.
Loans and a measly budget is probably the case no matter what the scenario is

Another thing I've noticed - always makes like for like subs.
Not saying it's the right thing to always change formations etc during a match, but he doesn't really give opposition managers much to think about during the game.
I'd say it's repetitive and one-dimensional rather than boring.
Poch’s strongest ability was player improvement. Dembele was a bench player often unfit during AVB’s tenure and when he did play he often just sat on the ball too long, he had amazing talent but mostly unused before Poch. You can watch Chelsea last season go from a mess to their last 5 games of the season where they became an animal and Caicedo actually started looking like the £100m player rather than a flop. He gets players fit and works on their flaws hard. I remember seeing an interview with Danny Rose after he had a game came into Poch’s office thinking he had a good game then Poch went through with him each and every tactical error during the game. As a pure coach he is by far the best we have had, miles above Jose or Conte.
Where he perhaps wasn’t the greatest was in game tactics, often he would struggle to adapt if things didn’t go the way he wanted. The player ID thing is a bit overblown IMO as a proper run club should have scouts to identify talent not just rely on the manager, it isn’t the 90’s anymore and Hitchen was a bit pants.
I think that he has as long of a rope as he has because he still has a decently large faction of the fandom on his side.
It's different from when we sacked Mourinho and Conte. Who had most of the fanbase against them.
Levy probably takes that into account to some degree.
