Player Heung-Min Son (손흥민)

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Disagree- you can't have such a highly paid player not starting most of your games. You can't have your captain not starting most games. And you can't remove a player from Captaincy without social ascendancy repercussions- it will be best for Son to be moved on so that natural leadership succession can take place.

The club would be wise at this point in time to move on leadership to new, younger generation from within the spurs players. Remember it didn't have to happen this way- but the club painted itself into a corner by making Son captain in the first place.
Levy activated Son's clause so the miser can get at least the fee back that he paid for him.

You're being led to reach a conclusion due to circumstances that should never have occurred.

Other top clubs will take Son off Spurs hands, give Levy his ransom for keeping Son hostage, pay him better wages and manage his minutes in a more professional manner.

Levy has broken up Poch's team and sold them all apart from Eriksen who I admire for shafting Levy for his underpayment for 5 years. Eriksen ran his contract down and fair play to him.

I agree Ange and his naive tactics never should have occurred. It's interesting to ponder what if in this regard but I don't really know if it helps answer this disagreement.

I concede it's possible another coach could whisk Son into the position where Salah currently is in with Liverpool- but I'm not sure how likely it is to happen, or even am sure it can really happen at all (is Son really the same as Salah?).

Maybe Son can be used in a Salah manner successfully, but also maybe Spurs are not the kind of club who can really figure that out. Maybe that's not a question Spurs are supposed to figure out how to pull off right now. I think it's easier and more natural at this point to just treat it as normal, healthy succession planning- my opinion though.

I agree with you in how much I hate how Levy has mishandled all of this. It's been a fucking slow motion train wreck for YEARS now.

Ange was left short of two Solanke level players in the summer.

We needed a holding player and a left back and we should have payed around 50-60 million for both to ensure the right kind of proven quality in those positions.

If that had happened most people could have probably swallowed Ben Davies, as cover for VDV, for one season.

Spurs were linked with Eze and Neto.

Spurs signed Odebert and Bergvall.

I like Bergvall. He looks like he is ready for the team.

It's Levy.

Always has been; always will be.

We've done to Son what we did to Kane

This is all on the owners

Really feel for Sonny

Should have jumped ship years ago , doesn't deserve this shit

At no point did I say he's shit you don;t need to 'speculate' you can watch the players on the field, you can only speculate on what the Manager is doing, training schedules & halftime talks.

Sonny he just hasn't got the pace as he used to - look at Kyle Walker - if you see him being out paced by other players what are you going to believe the Fifa/Adrenlyn XL stats or your actual eyes?

It's not an opinion I've seen Sonny outpaced by players I've seen on the pitch - does he have the skills to pull off another run like he did at Burnley? maybe but not in this team with 0 rotation opportunity.

I can only speculate on why his pace has dropped he could be overplayed, could be lack of athleticism or even an underlying injury but use your eyes mah dude.
Yea, so he needs some rest. Look at how ground Son covers and compare to Salah. One is used sparingly, the other is made to press all game without rest. So the issue need not be age related.

As for speed, there are ways to clock the speed in mph. That's more accurate than anyone's eye. We can't deny that.

Totally agree with your point mah dude.

Whatever the reason is I do still see opponents players outrun him - I'll leave it at that :)

I love Sonny - I own more shirts with Sonny on them than Kane, Hoddle, Gazza or any other player :D

He needs to be sold next week, toxic and debilitating presence in the squad. Sadly he offers nothing positive and plenty of negatives
This is ludicrous, some of you need your heads examined. There's a 0% chance Son is a toxic presence in the squad.

That word is ridiculously overused. Anyone who would describe Son as toxic needs to fuck off down to woolich.

You're blocked now, btw. I don't have time for people like you.

Plenty of toxic presence yesterday - not saying he’s an arrogant bully, but I’m sick of his lack of effort and his crocodile tears

Yeh there’s a bit of scapegoating with Son. He’s unfortunate to be ageing and captain at a time when we’re very shit. That’s not all down to him.

He’s been a great player here, that shouldn’t be forgotten as easily as some do.

While we are short, I genuinely think that even if the players you suggest had been added, we'd still be in a mess.

Ange is an appalling coach. You could give him Liverpool's squad and he'd be mid-table.

There's a very nasty segment of our supporters who treat players as disposable entertainment jesters. Did it to Dier, Alli, Rose, Hugo, etc. etc. The moment a player is on the backside of their peak, these lot pile in with the "disgrace" "wage thief" "GeT OuT oF My CLuB" bullshit.

The guy chanting "wanker, wanker" at Son should have left the ground with a broken nose.

Was he chanting that at Sonny or Ange?

I wasn't on board with Ange's appointment but my son was enthused at the time. I was indifferent.

My son was adament that what Ange needed were wingers who could beat their man. It was because I couldn't have cared less at the time that I remembered these details further down the road when Ange was let down during the summer window. I kept being told by my son that dribbling wingers were the key to Ange's tactics.

Levy gave Ange Werner and Odebert when he wanted Neto and Eze.

Levy sets them all up to fail in the end.

Jol got saddled with Zokora when Levy sold Pedro Mendes and Carrick.

Levy has been doing this forever.

The idea of forcing Son out is so dumb and I'll tell you why.

Son is a perfect blend of finisher and assister. That is what makes him so hard to defend against. You never know what he's going to do next. On top of that, he can go on either side. Both his feet are equally good. That's why he's our top assister ever, as well as being one of the clubs top scorers.

Speed will mostly be necessary for goals like the one winning him the Puskas award. No, he probably won't score those again, but they are so extremely rare anyway.

What we need is a player that can create something from just outside the box. That role has been given to Kulu. That's why Kulu is involved in everything. Kulu is good but he will never be at Son's even current level. Kulu is a plodding player with ability to find the crucial pass. He's not explosive enough to create goals en masse. That is why his goal involvement this season is lower than Son's. 10 for Kulu. 12 for Son. I know, shocking, isn't it? Kulu is having the season of his life and there's talk about big clubs. Son is said to have broken legs. Yet, it's still the old man actually providing more. And that's after playing 350 mins less.

Then again, some posters don't know shit about football. They don't know what really matters. And they can't see the obvious.

Not so much this season. He looks like he couldn’t hit a barn door with a banjo this season.
Exactly. Yet, he's more efficient than Kulu. It's strange that even at his low, he contributes more than Kulu when he's at his very best.

We should stick with Son because his form will return with a new manager. And when Son is on form, even at 32-33, he's better than anything we can get to this club. We're ranked 15th ffs and those top players are too expensive for this cheap club.
