Transfers January Transfer Thread 24/25

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It’s fact

It’s also fact that Solanke was West Ham’s target and was in talks with them in May.

Ange claiming they wanted Solanke above all others flys in the face of the reality.

Club is full of lies.
Can you put those facts up on here? I've had a look on the internet myself but can't find anything to back that up.

I'm not seeing how you can equate Solanke talking to West Ham to him not being our main target either. Neither are related.

The club may well be full of lies, but nothing you have posted remotely rubber stamps that statement.

The cynic in me think this is just typical levy , he knows Tel will end up going to a different club so he is just going through the motions , it’s the same every window so he can say “we tried our best”
Levy doesn't give a shit either way, but this meets the profile of Gray, Bergvall, Vuskovic, Ashley Phillips, Dibling, Evan Ferguson, etc.

If there is a teenager showing a potential superstar trajectory in senior football, Johan Lange is sniffing around.

I think they are probably really trying to get the deal done but why now? Why are we always chasing our tails in January?. If they could have added a couple of Tel, Dibling and Tomori, or similar in the summer and not bothered with Werner then we'd be in a much better place. We only ever seem to show real willing when we're in the shit (see 2009 winter window) or when we make a big sale. Basically the fans have to be massively pissed off for them to pull their fingers out.

1. Can you point to where, in any of my posts, I said that Liverpool at the time were good at buying? They had a bunch of clangers that window, same window they brought in Riera and Dossena IIRC. They did get Mascherano though, fucking quality he was.
2. Yes, they should have, he was the better player.
3. £32m wasn't "high" for Berbatov, it was about right. You can go back and look at transfer fees for similarly talented players at the time if you're too young to know what a high fee actually was in 2008, you don't need to break your back bending over to convince us all how much you loved him.

I have at no point said Berbatov wasn't an excellent player, merely stating a fact that we got very good value for money at the time for what at the time was a very good striker. You're either very young and haven't got the frame of reference to understand 2008 transfer fees or you've simply not got the wherewithal to understand that your favourite player wasn't worth £100m irrespective of what era they played in.

I consider him to be a much better player than you think - which is why your frame of reference is not one I relate to - you relate him to players I consider to be inferior to him.

And hence £30m was under valuing him ...... and probably we could only replace him properly when Kane came through the academy, which in turn confirms that the valuation (worth to Spurs) was higher than you think.

I suspect that you either do not understand the concept of, or have not considered his 'worth to Spurs' which is why your valuation is too low - which in turn is why Spurs struggled to find a player of the same calibre for years.

Eh, for us to spunk that fee on a player of Solanke's age tells me that was one the manager was really pushing for. That ain't a club signing.

I sense Solanke and Richy were both Levy saying "who's the top gettable guy on my gaffer's list? Make the deal" and satisfying himself that he could thereby never be criticized for not "backing" the manager.
