Hey 1882...., I know your post here years ago but still is relevant, and that saddens me greatly reading your post here. Truly it does. I am a lifelong Chelsea fan, i live in Australia now (since 2006) supported Chelsea since a kid from early 70's. Ive seen it all the highs n lows. I feel your sentiment in what and how you wrote and i cannot and will not defend those areas of Chelsea. We do and have had some right tosspots. Chelsea of the 80's was the worst i remember us being, and thats saying something! Well, football in general for most clubs was about a good ol punch up before during and after games. Some serious shit used to go down in those days. I loved all the banter between fans, sometimes the banter and songs were tasty and it was good to rile fans to sing songs back (all the to n fro stuff) But like you say, all that shite you described is just pond life, its worse than that, its just plain disgusting. All i say to you is not all Chelsea fans were or are like that. Spurs have their dodgy lot, as do west ham as do Man Utd, as do Leeds as do Southend bleeding Utd..... and so on....... And yes, some clubs worse than others and unfortunately Chelsea is one. Ive fallen out in the past with a few of my own (if i can call them that) I can't stand ignorance. But hate breed hate. I hope over the years since your post here, things and your thoughts have gotten way better regarding chelsea fans (as much as the world is totally fucked right up though) And yes, i was there at The Chelsea v Spurs game back in 96 for that Matthew Harding game. And yes, i remember Spurs fans being top notch. Many modern Chelsea fans unfortunately don't even know who Matthew Harding was.... :-/ I have many mates who are supporters of other clubs, many i met on away trips as well as home games and work etc. Spurs, West Ham, Liverpool etc (not Leeds funnily enough...) When we won title in 2005 the first mate who called was my ol scouser LFC mate. He loves his club, as i do mine, as you do with your Spurs. Thats what i love and miss and remind you that thats what its about, rivalry, banter, love of our clubs which is same, its what we all have in common. And funnily enough, as much as i have loved various moments (Jose first joining the club in 2004 etc, that CL win over in Bayern which was just amazing being there and in dreamland winning something i prayed we would one day in my lifetime..) my favourite Chelsea was the mid to late 90's. Zola, Petrescu, Di Matteo, Gullit.... and to balance it out for comic laffs, likes of David Lee, Andy Myers hahahaha. All just before the tourist fans and jonny come latelys came along too. To all the Spurs fans here, please don't think bad me coming on here. Hate dosent belong anywhere and sure as hell not in football. Passion yes, sheer love for ones club yes. We all have special memories too..... a significant one of many of mine is of someone whose ashes i spread over the centre circle at the Bridge in 1985. Someone close to me, died too young, and to suicide too. Was a mad Chelsea fan. We all have stories to tell of our clubs. I hope we win April 3rd against you lot, but above all, lets hope its a good game, in a competitive but good spirit, and if Spurs win, well done. But either way you do need to get rid of that Aussie managing you guys. He's a decent enough geezer, but not a top tier manager. Neither is Maresca at chelsea either. Cheers all you Spurs...... Have love your club but love your family and friends more <3 ,
Best wishes from proper Chelsea.
