Match Tottenham Hotspur VS Eintracht Frankfurt. Thursday 10th April 2025. 8pm KO

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

How brittle are we.
Maddison lost the ball and fell to earth and we were wide open.
I note that there were 4 white shirts around him when he hit the shot.
Did you see how Maddison reacted when he got tackled? Fell to the ground, head went DOWN and he mulled for a good second or two, which is a life time when the opposing team get an opportunity to break the line and counter! He needed to spring back up and fight to get the ball back, but alas, he melted and didn't show the fighting character to take responsibility. Just let someone else sort it kind of attitude. Blokes head needs a wobble!

I didn't notice that at the time, but it's the reaction of someone who's lost the motivation and desire. I'm not saying he doesn't want to win, but he probably has lost faith in the project as well.

I get it mate, I really do. But I also think when you're in a position you cant control, such as thinking the manager needs to go because you don't believe in the project, you don't just start slacking. You need to rise above it, do what's best for the club eg. keep focused and keep fighting like your life depends on it...for god forbid...90 minutes once a week. Go see a therapist, scream into your pillow and do whatever you need to do to cope outside game time, but when that whistle goes knuckle down san!!! Surely that's not too much to ask is it?

No, I agree with you. He should be doing that. He's being paid to play and is meant to be part of the leadership group so there's even more reason for him to be leading by example. He's only human at the end of the day and I guess there's been a lot of stuff behind the scenes that's taken a professional footballer to that point. Still doesn't make it right.

He lives around the corner from me. Maybe I'll go knock on his door and have a word.

"Oi, Madders.Open the gates mate..."

Just watching highlights now, on 44 mins, they have 4 on 2 with a clear run into our final 3rd.

They fluff it, thankfully, but it's a hard watch. Nice to know they can be shit, too, though!

I thought to myself I might be being a bit harsh, maybe a bit of confirmation bias, but in fairness...we are uber shit atm. I thought he might of had similar incidents before I saw this one, where he sprung back up and took responsibility, but I think if this was likely to be a one off in this game or in previous, I think a part of him would of checked himself mid sulk and gone, annng on a second SAN, get up and get the ball back....but he didn't...so public lashing and shaming on FC forum at the very LEAST for that nonsense! :contekiss:

If you fancy it, have a look at the Maddison tackle that gives them the chance to counter just before their first goal. Do you think my moaning is valid? In fairness I haven't watched it back but I remember just thinking that is a clear moment where there he shows a lack of character and instead of showing leadership by springing back up to fight back for the ball, he just for a moment or two (which is a life time when the opposing team has a chance to counter) had his head bowed in a sulk and just left it for the other players to clean up!

We'd have lost the game without him creating the first.

Is he supposed to be a box to box player throwing tackles in all over the pitch now? Is it his fault players are exposed if he loses it trying to create something or the players'/coaches' fault for how they are set up?

No to everything. He just needs to focus on his duty, which is what what I was entirely focusing on. If you get tackled, get back up as fast as you can and TRY and get the ball back for a few seconds - don't sulk and give up. If you can't get it back, at the very least be an off putting presence in their periphery until they advance too much out of your scope of influence.

Just been watching bits back. It's frustrating. We do have some really good (young) players in there who have it in them to bring home this cup. I just wish we had a better manager to help them realise their potential. We've got to do better than Ange otherwise we're ultimately failing them.
