Match Tottenham vs Forest Monday 21 April 8pm

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Maybe that's too much to ask?!
Maybe it's too pathetic?!

On Thursday, Tottenham proved how to beat opponents - even if someone wrote that Frankfurt was shit.
Whether an opponent is shit or not is irrelevant.
Going onto the pitch without the will and without respect is the first step to only leave second place.

If the ball is lost, my expectation would be that a team like Tottenham focuses on getting it back as quickly as possible.
It could work if everyone at Spurs can rely on each other.

Tottenham is now in the semifinals of the Europa League!
You have to get there first - only four out of 36 manage that!

Regardless of that, you should try to continue to "take the PL seriously."

If you lose here, it could (perhaps?) affect your performance in the Europa League.
Getting "unexpected" points could boost their confidence.

Thursday is over. On Monday, Nottingham Forest will try to bag three points for themselves.
It will be challenging, but it could be worth it if Tottenham gives 100% in every remaining game.

If Spurs try that, then a defeat won't be as fatal as playing at half strength. No tip this time, just the hope that every single player at this great club will show everything they can do – play good football!Everything else will follow!

(And finally, something a bit crude again. It's nice when others see Tottenham as weak, as a possible relegation candidate. When Forrest is the first to believe they'll take it easy on Spurs!Yet another reason to (respectfully) kick their asses!)
I never wrote off Frankfurt - I'm a Bundesliga follower they're not a shit team as shown by the 1-0 win.

I agree form is a thing & it's nice to go on a run but honestly the PL games are 'bragging rights' games.

As I've explained as a fan it makes 0 difference to me if we come 15th - 11th - 9th - 4th etc. OK we may have a chance to get into Europe but as always that's not a guaranteed trophy. I've been consistent on this topic for a very long time - progress isn't moving up the table it's winning Trophies.

Do I want us to lose no but if we do the consequence is what? keeping Forest off top three? I don't care about other teams positions in the PL never have unless I'm discussing it with rival fans. Bottom line it makes no difference to me as a Hotspur fan.

Remember we got busted wide open by Wolves then went onto to progress in Europa.

Forest Fans care more about the outcome of this game Monday than I am :)

Amorim said that he’d play 2nd string teams in the league now and bring in a few of the kids and that’s what I want to see from us now . No problem with getting 60 mins into Romero and Vdv , Kulu etc but I don’t want to see him flogging them to death so he can get 14th instead of 17th . 3 game season now and all eggs firmly in the Europa basket .
I wouldn't follow Amorim into a strip club let alone his tactics...

This is really a post I have to think about!

Well, in my fan life, I've always seen it this way: I'm rarely, if ever, interested in other teams' games.
Looking at the standings is either pleasing or frightening, but it's over the next second because—as the saying goes in coaching jargon—it's just a snapshot in time.

How the team I wholeheartedly support plays is very important to me!
If they win, it's good for me and those around me. If they draw, well, okay. If they lose, but then the game didn't happen, or better yet, no one mentions it to me for 48 hours.

I don't get a penny for it, but I share in the pain and the joy.

Of course, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my team will be in the best possible position at the end of the season. And of course, at the end of the season, a thorough analysis should be done to determine what can and needs to be improved in the coming season.

I don't live alone, I got married (before no one would have had me anymore), and my wife knew I was a football fanatic.
I consider your composure desirable; I haven't been able to achieve it for 51 years (I'm 65) - and I won't be able to anymore.

That's why I'll be declared crazy again on Monday when I barricade myself in my room again from 9:00 PM (CEST) and hope that my fellow human beings won't have to suffer because of me from Tuesday onwards.

It is important to show cohesion in our play and to build the fitness of one or two who are returning.

I think we will play well, buoyed by Thursday, but it would be wrong to think we could just beat Forest, who are not where they are because they are a bad side. I do, however, see it as now a harder game for them than had we lost.

Nothing about us has been too easy to predict this season, despite how mediocre we have been.

And in my mind nothing has changed, just because of Thursday ...as yet.

Romero and VDV must not be risked.

If anything happens to them in dead rubber league games, I will be furious.

Agree for Monday but they have to play Liverpool.

Can't keep them on ice until May 1st, then they go out and get injured because they aren't match fit.

Understandably, everyone is mentally scarred from injuries this season but at the end of the day, they are football players, and they are better off playing football.

Oh I get that & yes 'snapshot in time' is used in many industries ;)

Many fans whom I'm more aware now are younger than me for some reason perceive a football team's success or progression is based on getting higher in the table than their rivals in a league, I think this is due to mostly inpart due to the media's coverage of the PL. Like getting higher payments which isn't that much relatively speaking which doesn't affect any fan, it doesn't cause lower costing tickets or merch infact the opposite in most cases also a 'chance to play in Europe' like that's a trophy in itself which boggles me.

Relegation in the PL is another subject but we are ruling that out as it doesn't relate to us & to be honest the way parachute payments work it's actually not a huge issue being relegated into the Championship when it comes to business but as a FAN it does.

This is a statement of fact & no one has been ever to argue against me on this :-

Only 1 team wins the League to gain the Title & each season 3 teams get relegated while 3 new teams compete. When the season resets, everyone goes back to 0, which means that it doesn't matter where you finish in said League if it's not first guess what???

YOU LOSE & ALL 'PROGRESS' IS LOST WHEN IT RESETS.

A successful season can also mean winning the Trophies you are in a tournament in whether Domestic or not which history shows no one cares what league finish you're in because???

YOUR TEAM STILL GET TO KEEP THAT TROPHY

So there's the logic & the facts about why no one should care AS A FAN about league finish unless they're interested in going 'oooh we are above you!!!!' but dude we both lost the league so what?

I'm not getting wrapped up in those silly conversations - I hope we win our games, I hope their entertaining but I don't care none of them will lead to a Trophy will they?

Very clever and interesting post.

Thanks! The amount of times I've had this 'debate' in the last two years alone via textual, on a YouTube panel or in real life over the last two years has gotten me to defend this point to a literal succinct 2 sentences. People try diverting the conversation or derailing it because they 'feel better' when a team finishes higher it has been rather intriguing.

It wasn't a prevalent thought by adult fans about 4/5 years ago - I only remember this type of discourse when we were all kids in the playground at the end of the season going 'my team is bettah dan urs blah blah' even though only one or none of our teams won the League.

Another thing I've noticed, which is also becoming prevalent, is if you think your team is going to lose but others say they win & they do win THEY COME AFTER YOU, causing fractures in a fanbase trying to get one over on another person instead of all just Celebrating the win. People can predict things incorrectly, football is football we are all fans here man we all celebrate the wins & chastise the losses we all get that as fans collectively.

It's the same when I say 'Success Means Trophies' - If you don't win a Trophy you FAIL, which again I thought is just something everyone agrees on but alas I've now found that to not be the case either. If you beat a 'Big Team' that means you're the best when you haven't even lifted the Trophy yet...utter nonsense...
