Match The Bodø Affair: The Mighty Tottenham vs Bodø/Glimt of Nordland - 2000hrs 1st May 2025 - UEFA Europa League Semi Final Leg 1

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Copied from BBC comments. Second comment is so so true. We ultimately need more leaders in this group. I know he was a bit like marmite to this forum, but Hoybeer was a good character to have around the dressing room.

Infuriating last 20 minutes. Too casual and lost control. Should have kept up the intensity and looked for a 4th. Why does this Tottenham team always give the opposition a chance!

There's a lack of "the killer instinct" to put teams to bed and that comes from a lack of leadership on the pitch.
And they've been dogged by that all season, all very well putting ' nice guy' as Captain.

We really need to find that killer instinct , foot on the throat for the second half would have seen another 3/4 goals .

I really hope MU win by a big margin in the return so everybody talks them up , they will melt with the pressure .

I think it’s the opposite.

That club are constantly under pressure. Their supporters expect them to win things every year.

Should be a great final. Just need to get there now.
United are there. Bilbao are cooked at OT.

Our subs killed us. Richy should have been playing over the hour mark at least. Tel is hopeless. And for all the talk of Kulu should have been the captain, Madders still showed more. It's scary that whenever Madders was off, the opponents can just get back on us so easily.

It’s because Kulusevski was completely out of position. He was almost playing as the striker and was far too high up the pitch. Madders going off was huge. Sarr should have come on instead.

This really says a bit about how the Bodø-Glimt players view Ange's pressure tactics. And, like their coach, Kjetil Knudsen, they are rather unusualy open about it commenting about an opponents tactics (or rather lack of it):

Center-back Jostein Gundersen: I don't like to put them down, but ...
Those European matches are a bit different. They come man-to-man and are surprised that we are so good at playing us out from behind..
"It is often more difficult to break down Norwegian Eliteserie teams in that phase of the game."

Right-back Fredrik Sjøvold in particular is feisty in the comments about Spurs.
Asked by Avisa Nordland's live studio to characterize Tottenham's pressing game, he is blunt stated:
"Ass!" ("Ræva" in Norwegian).
"I wouldn't say they're ass. It's a very good team and they're good with the ball, but the pressure is no better than an okay Norwegian top-flight team. It's possible to play it out."

Kjetil Knutsen were ruthless after the game yesterday, and not happy with
BGs performance at all. He felt they ruined the game giving up the early goal, and claimed the players made junior mistakes in vital moments.

- The postitive is that we are still in the game. It's going to be another game at our place and with our players back, that will give us more options.

Hard to disagree on that. We should have been out of sight after that performance, but now it's game on unfortunately

Even though Knutsen himself are normally respectful to other clubs, his honesty combined with self esteem is a breathe of fresh air.

Should definetaly be on our list of candidates if Ange is going, his results now over a long period of time, shows this isn't a fluke. What more is, it would not be a total new direction as Knutsens brand of football is not so far from how we play.

He would also be a good fit from a business perspective for Levy, as he is doing perfect in developing young talent

one thing you notice live is how much bigger and faster our players are. Bodo were decent on the ball at times, quick little schemers but we should have steamrollered them and really pressed go

Bentancur & Bissouma both played well but we don’t see it often enough
They will both be key in the return leg. Them and the full backs were excellent.
Though a good enough performance and decent result thought we def should have more than a two goal cushion. We were flat after the first and let them settle when I thought we could have really went for the throat while they were clearly rattled but its a european semi final I suppose - bit of solidity is nice to see too, sloppy goal to concede apart.

Should be confident of at least scoring a goal or two there - the plastic pitch does worry me though, at Tamworth I think the only two players able to play well on it were Bissouma and Bergvall from memory - the rest were awful all game.
Couldn't ask for an easier opportunity to reach a major final now - lets go and do it.

Was.speaking to a really nice Norwegian Spurs yesterday. Slightly older than me (think Moses)
Been going since the 70s. Seen north of 150 games.
That's some commute.
Love this club.

If we were offered 3–1 this team yesterday we’d have all taken it.

The late goal was a killer, but only because we’d played so well. I have confidence we’ll go there and get the job done like we did in Frankfurt

The players and fans of Twente, Olympiakos and Lazio also thought the same...

A concern with Knudsen is that like with every other manager from lower leagues is that he’s at risk of becoming out of his depth. Cultural differences can also be an obsticle. I rather see him go to a mid-level club before he comes to the PL.

Getting another non Prem experienced manager, no thank you.

All well and good managing at a club like that but Prem is different levels for many reasons.
