Match The Bodø Affair: The Mighty Tottenham vs Bodø/Glimt of Nordland - 2000hrs 1st May 2025 - UEFA Europa League Semi Final Leg 1

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I was only young then, under 10, but it was my first vivid memory because it was so traumatic. It may have been the loss at Maine Rd that essentially put us down, but the draw to Sunderland confirmed it. I still have the programme for that game somewhere.

My first visit was in the 74/75 season to a NLD, but I don't remember that match too well. We won that 2-0, so it wouldn't have had that lasting "trauma" effect. The Sunderland game was a drab 1-1, which you'd normally forget. It was what that did to us that made it stick in my memories for a lifetime, much as all those cup glories stick to this day, to greater or lesser extents, e.g. the '81 Cup final because it was so epic. Those goals are etched into my memories. Villa's emotion after scoring "that goal," Crooks' reaction after he'd scored, Tony Parkes sprinting away from his goal after saving the last penalty in the UEFA Cup. Those moments stick with you because of the emotional impact they have.
Got my programmes out and we had 5 matches left after the draw with Sunderland / won 2 lost 2 drew 1, ended the season 2 points from safety (coventry). After the win over villa we were 3 points off Coventry with 2 to play (2,points for a win) after the villa game we were chanting we are staying up all night!! Next week we lost to Man City and Coventry drew so we were 4 points adrift with 1 to play and relegated. That’s how my 12 soon to be 13 year old self remembers it - was a bloody long time ago so who knows!!

Thanks for that, amazing memories, especially the Feyenoord and Munich games.
The first half against Feyenoord was probably the best football I've ever seen, Hoddle was a master of the ball. I went to the away leg too, and it was a great performance.
My lasting memories of the Munich game was Rummenigge missing an open goal, and the timing of Mark Falco's goal meant we had to hold on for three minutes, as if they had scored, they would have gone through on the away goal rule. I don't think one person left early that night.
For the H Split game, IIRC, Mickey Hazard lost his contact lens either before or after he took that free kick.
Back to the days when we used to smash the minnows of the competition.
Great times, and I hope that our younger supporters experience some of that soon.
I'm glad you enjoyed it Mrs P, & thank you for sharing your memories with us that that weren't there!

I always respect those that were there & saw some of our glory days, even though I've seen my share of em myself - I find these youngens ((20-) just dismiss some of Spurs achievements as just 'history' when I say to rival fans we've won Trophies in Europe they literally dismiss it as nothing but 'history' I have to remind them it's not nothing to those that were there. Some youngens, even in the Spurs community, forget just how great we were & can be...anyways, I digress :)

Shame we don't have these games in full somewhere as I'd love to watch em. I missed the Hoddle Era as I grew up in the Linekar/Sheringham era...

I think our supporters did get a glimpse of that with that Bodo Game - with the stadium TIFO etc but hopefully we'll get to lift a trophy this season!

I fucking loved that team and that season so many happy memories - Steve Archibald was such a class act and hoddle a magician
Next season I qualified in my job which meant a 70 hour working week and 1 in 2 weekends so my attendance at WHL dropped considerably- 1977-1984 a personally magical era to be a spurs fan
Thanks for sharing that my friend!

I loved watching that video as I love our clubs history but hopefully one day we can get back to those heady heights!

No you're right, I've just googled it.

What probably happened was my old man saying "that's it, we're down" and it stuck with me. Memories will always let you down in the main, and we're talking nigh on 50 years here.

The panic over being 2 goals up and having to play on an artificial pitch is embarrassing.

Yes, the tie isn’t over but you’d think we’re already out the way people are talking.
I agree but you can see why our supporters are nervous about it,
This extract from Ange after the match
'Postecoglou felt the atmosphere inside Tottenham Hotspur Stadium became nervous and tense after Bodo/Glimt pulled a goal back in the 84th minute, but believes his players will stay positive as they try to win silverware for the first time since 2008.'

Hajduk away game.
Wasn’t that the one where a home fan ran to centre circle at kick off with a live cockerel, and wrung its neck

And the Feyenoord game, probably more remembered for what happened in terraces than on pitch

I can remember crying my eyes out when we drew 1-1 with Sunderland (I think it was) in '77 which confirmed our relegation. It was absolutely gutting. We only finished 3rd in the 2nd div, but it brought us up. The years after that were tinged with some disappointment, particularly in the league when Liverpool dominated, but the cup glory massively overshadowed that, with the European success being wonderful, but it was the FA Cup successes that put the cherry on the cake, when the FA Cup was almost as big as winning the league.

Football had a more "magical" aura back then, which it has now lost as it's really all about the money now. It used to be the working man's game, it isn't anymore.
The FA Cup is still very special to me. I'd give both bollocks to science to see Spurs win it again.

Postecoglou can blame everyone and everything, bar himself.

Is he so fcuking naive that he could not understand tension in a Spurs crowd who have witnessed the sh!t he has presided over abd our flakey fcuking disposition.

Did he come out and remonstrate at his captain for his reckless challenge? Did he himself indicate to the players to be calm after Bodo scored?

Just fast forward to the end of this bullish!t.

My contributions to this forum tend to be more memories and how I see a game that I attend and how it makes me feel. Not very insightful with regards to tactics and statistics, probably because that stuff isn't what makes me go to games, just sheer emotion TBH.
So I lap up anything from the 80s especially, as that's when I first got my season ticket and went to nearly all the domestic away games too. Such wonderful memories and I'm still in touch with people I met on the Supporters' Club specials.

Hardly a cauldron were walking into. This is where our players need to earn their big wages and reputation. Getting to the final. Fail and they can all go in the summer.

I don’t know what « cauldron « means to you ; but I see it as a hot , boiling place where players are overcome and melt .

We’re entering a freezer / cold-room with a biting arctic wind and a plastic pitch . Tiger country for countless teams before us ( and a death-trap for dodgy hamstrings ) .

But to reiterate ; completely agree we’re literally not entering a cauldron.

If whoever plays, plays at their optimum level,we win. It's that simple.

Whether this manager can get anywhere close to getting that from the players is not even up for debate.

One thing for sure, is that Postecoglou will want tomorrow's game our of the way amd to get onto the preparation.
