Match The Bodø Affair: The Mighty Tottenham vs Bodø/Glimt of Nordland - 2000hrs 1st May 2025 - UEFA Europa League Semi Final Leg 1

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

First of all ....Well played on thursday! You fully derserved to win that game. After the terrible start I feared that we would lose by 5 or 6 goals. As you probably know Bodø/Glimt is a team that changes their line-up as little as possible. Our main strength is to play the same team so we can maximize the team chemistry. This obviously has a downside when there is injuries or suspensions. But it's the only way a team like B/G can compete with teams that has superior individual talent.

This is no excuse. But in the first leg we really struggled with a completely new constellation in midfield. It was very hard for us to compete, and on another night this could have been over. The late goal by Saltnes means that this is within reach for us at home.

It is true that Bodø/Glimt is a great at home. But it is not impossible to beat us there. In the last couple of years we have won a lot , but we have also lost at home to teams like Quarabag, Arsenal_ and Legia Warszawa. So it happens. And we know that all the big teams in Europe have 3g-pitches themselves. The downside by having this kind of surface on your home ground is that you do struggle more when you play on grass away.

Anyways! I hope that those of you who travel will have a great time in Norway. Our country has always loved England, and especially the football. Of course I dream of seeing Bodø/Glimt in the final. But we do know that Tottenham has the best players, and if you nail the tactics it will be difficult for those in a yellow shirt. But the players has the confidence on Aspmyra and will put in a massive effort to turn this around. I am extremely excited about the game. I bet you are too!

So many lazy articles about Champions League qualification, and how terrible it is. This was the rule at the start of the season, and has been for a number of years, I saw no one complaining then.

Fcuk the articles.

Why don't they moan about a 5th place being given to teams that could be 30 points behind the lesders or what was once 4th?

Or that the Champions League is the biggest misnomer of all-time?

It's all another example of too much irrelevant noise.

Just seen that Thursday could be 8 degrees in Bodo, that's better than London in January. They'll be playing in their flip flops at this rate, can't be a bad thing. A lot of their European games at home have been played around feezing temperatures

Yep 7/8 degrees plus rain - it’s basically February weather here and something we know well.

As for artificial pitches - we’ve played on one this season, we struggled - surely lessons have been learnt and we will be better prepared this time

God forbid we lose on Thrsday, but if so, I think Postevoglou departs by next weekend.

When we lose today (the weekends one inevitability is that we will), it will only be the sense in keeping him in post until the Europa adventure comes to its end.

I would like to believe Levy has already started the process of appointing a new manager. All that analysis must now be complete, so it's the offer amd the basis.

But Postecoglou has a maximum 21 days and then it's over.

This is one chapter I probably won't be revisting. three of which have all been written within a relatively short period.

We can hope i really don't want this transfer window buying players for ange getting to November and sacking him because it's a possibility if we win the europa I want the cup so bad but at the same time I dont want him here next season

In terms of the artificial pitch, hopefully some additional training would be done on the 3G pitch at the training ground working on certain situations, but who knows, will probably complain that the pitch was a surprise after the game 🤔

It'll be a slippy little surface. I can see Porro somersaulting at some point, landing on his coccyx, having a near death experience, then forgetting all about it.

I've just googled sunset in Bodo - and it will be about 10:10pm.

The biggest advantage for Bodø/Glimt is the speed of their play, thanks to the artificial turf pitch, which is heavily watered before kickoff. Lazio said the same—they were surprised by the tempo. Kulusevski will likely get a wake-up call. He claimed that the most distinctive thing about artificial turf is that everything moves slower. As if a team with less individually skilled players would be able to outplay their significantly more famous opponents if everything was happening at a slower pace than usual.

Not all artificial pitches play the same way. The one we have at the training ground is also indoors so it will be different to the one at Tamworth and at Bodo. Makes sense to not train too much on that. Unfortunately European rules are you only get to train on the away pitch for a session on the day before.

The ones with those black rubber beads play slower. I went out to watch us play Young Boys in the first away CL game under redknapp. We were 3-0 down inside 30 minutes.
Dawson and Bassong were CBs and they weren't used to the ball holding up and extra bounce almost like a tennis ball. Through balls they were expecting to run through to Gomes were just slowing down.

It looks like the Bodo pitch runs faster, almost like the old school astro with sand (I've got plenty of burns on my legs from sliding on that surface) . The weight of passing from our players needs to be good. Otherwise the ball will just run out.
