That season 3 line got me.

I'm all in again!

He didn't become a different man in 24 hours. Winning this doesn't change the future prospects. The club didn't suddenly surge upward at the end of the season. We'd broken mast and rudder and were listing for months, before putting a performance together (more or less) on Wednesday that was good enough.
And, TBF, it took a scruffy near-own-goal in our favour, and a legendary overhead kick goal line clearance. Against a United team that's 16th in the PL.

Not that I revel in minimizing anything. Fucking Europa League Champions!!!!

Can't anyone hold two thoughts at once?

+Getting a trophy was great and euphoric.

+The last two years have been godawful, and if we hadn't won Wednesday Ange would already be sacked, and the decision would have 99% approval among the fan base.

All odds are that the third year will be just like the first two, minus the trophy. We are not waltzing through road apples in the CL next year the way we did in Europa this year.

An average manager would be an upgrade so go get one. Ange is still a liability and we can't punt this chance to turn the club around.

Yeah spot on. Think this is the post of the thread so far.

People calling for a third season make me despair. It will be disastrous. The football for so long has been terrible. It amazes me people saw what happened with Ten Haag and want to do that all over again except we’re worse than United ever were under him.

There will be no Bodo and Qarabag mid week for him to fall back on next season. We will never be able to rotate. We couldn’t even handle focusing on Europa whilst remaining semi competitive in England, let alone the champions league.

It’s going to be a messy, horrible disaster as he isn’t fit for purpose, and some of our fans will have willed that disaster on.

Ange has got more charisma and aura than Ten Hag though

Christ. What does that even mean?

So much aura and charisma the side looked unarsed every single week. But yeah he got us up for some knockout games .. yey.

Ten Haag won two trophies at United, one whilst beating the champions of England in a final. We beat 16th by parking a bus.

If ‘he comes out with cool quotes in the press’ is why we want to commit to another year of this coach, I despair.

I can't watch another league season where we get dominated by all the prem teams again

We have been sussed out and got a run in the europa the cl teams will be a different proposition not to mention prem teams sussing us out. Will he adapt i don't think he will in the league

Prem & CL teams are a different stratosphere to the Europa league. Which is why this fucking fraud chucked it all at the Europa league anyway - it’s the only competition he knew he could do something in.

Can you imagine this side under his coaching dealing with Barca, PSG etc? It doesn’t bare thinking about. Alkmaar, Frankfurt and United gave us fierce contests FFS.

Yep but as I feared sentimentality has seeped again and it seems he will likely stay I'm just hoping paratici has a say in this when he comes in.

2. I am resolved not to be mad either way. It's a tricky one.
Fuck it!

Let’s get this man some really top notch assistants and go again!
Yeah these 2 takes pretty much sum it up for me.

Wednesday night changed everything in a way many of us never envisaged, mainly because we were all so numb for a few months + we’d all forgotten how good/transformative a significant trophy can be. I had the best day of my Spurs life in Bilbao (I’ve been a season ticket holder since 1988) and Ange was my manager. I don’t want to forget that in a hurry.

It is not like Ten Haag winning the FA cup, it’s much much more than that. You only had to watch that parade to realise that.

So personally, I’ve pretty much done a handbrake turn at 100 mph on the M1. I’m not convinced keeping him is the right move, but how can we sack him now. I think we’d be a laughing stock in many circles if we did. And no that’s not a consideration for any business decision but the football world is a bit different and reputations count.

I’m an Ange fan again. And it’s irrational. But FUCK IT!!

He deserves to carry on. I am hoping the terrible league form was him sacrificing it all for the Trophy. However, his job is to make us competitive in the league not just sack it off.

Or we could win the Champions League and finish 17th?

I liked the way he set the team to play against the opponents in the EL knockout phase. Spurs played advantagesly and he managed to take full advantage under the different circumstances of each game.

I think his biggest problem with the step up in grade is not understanding the massive improvement in ability of both his and opposition players. One size does not all at this level. It never will and it is a level the game is constantly changing. It is this level that creates the tune of how the game danced to.

I fully agree with him about mentality. A winning mentality is something you either have or you do not have. This is the same across all professional sport. Micheal Jordon for example would play at the highest level in whatever sport he took up at Young age, and concentrated on. That's natural ability and extreme mentality all in one.

Ange has the experience now at the highest level so that is a yesterday problem. If he can make big improvements in the tactical and technical areas of the game. Who knows? Spurs may really have the start of something.

Certainly getting the right mentality in to any club and team is a very difficult exercise and a major achievement if has managed this. Who knows if that's the case.

Personally I hope he and the club do great things. Though in my hopes Spurs are first a lot of distance a few other things then Ange.

I guess I'll find out the answers to all of these things next season.

2019 had a higher dopamine hit in the moment we scored, but this feels way better. We beat Ajax, it felt absolutely wonderful at the moment, but in the back of the head there was a voice thinking "job is not done". When that final whistle went on Wednesday, that relief was the best feeling I've ever had.

I wanted to stop crying like an idiot, and I couldn't. For 20 minutes. Nothing compares to winning an actual trophy, especially a European one.
