Transfers The Summer Transfer Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

This is the main reason we should really be selling players for each player we buy. For example if we do buy Sane, keep Son and sign Tel. That is Mikey Moore down to 4th choice left winger. Also a high chance that Odobert or Brennan would be moved to the left ahead of Moore if it came down to it. Similarly in midfield, we could sign Eze and Cordosa this summer for example. Further moving Donley down the pecking order.

Now this is how you have to operate. You have to keep adding first team players to improve your team. But its important we sell in these areas too. For example if we did sign Wharton/Baleba then we have to sell Bissouma just so Donley is still in contention to break in. Thats why I'm against the Sane signing. I'd only sign Sane if we were selling Son. Otherwise you are just moving Moore further away from the first team.

We have to give the academy guys some sort of chance. They obviously have to earn it by taking their chances when it comes but we can't make it impossible for them by having 4 or 5 senior players in the queue ahead of them! Ideally they should be third choice in their roles. We made a mistake brining in Werner last season as all it did was block Mikey's progression. I feel like Sane could be similar unless we decide to sell Son.
I think Son's contract comes to an end in a couple of seasons and it wouldn't surprise me if we were in the process of gradually phasing him out - even now, I feel that Richarlison and Tel offer more pace down the left hand side and that left position could be Mikey's in a couple of years. It might even suit us to just have the four of them fighting it out for that position until Mikey comes of age.

Watch him closely and you might not agree. When he’s on it he can be electric but when I’ve seen him this season he makes so many wrong decisions in the final third. Don’t get me wrong he’s a million times better than what we’ve got. His pace is still incredible
I actually agree, some of the matches he's played this season he's been disappointing but I didn't want to say that and ruin my argument! But he's also played some incredible games too, we can ill afford inconsistency but he's so much better than what we can put out

That why most might be better getting a loan until we have the right manager for the youngsters.
Don't think much development will be happening at the moment.
Yeah I agree. Especially if we are signing more senior players and not selling as much.

We can't have another season like this for Moore. It will seriously dent his progression. We won't have easy Europa League games next season to give him minutes so he'd be relying on getting sub minutes off the bench regularly. IF we can't offer him that then we must loan him out. If we are keeping Son, signing Tel and also signing another senior winger then I don't see how we can offer him regular minutes.

Moore should be out on loan no matter what. He's 17 about to turn 18 and his body just isn't ready for regular PL minutes.

Odobert isn't the tallest guy on the block either, but you can see that he is sturdier and more accustomed to first team football. Mikey needs a year on loan playing regularly and we are not in a position to offer that.

When he’s at it he’s outstanding. When he’s not he can be a man down but I suppose that’s wingers for you. As I said he is on another stratosphere from anything we have.

Weve got Werner, Johnson, Richarlison etc...You are correct. Sane is a million times better.
Sane is going for free so he'll expect a wage increase. Thats why players run down contracts so the team who signs them pays no fee so can afford to pay higher wages. He's currently on 250k a week. He will want close to 300k a week.

The logistics of this deal make no sense for us. Bring in a winger who's preferred position is the same as our current club captain, Tel who we seem keen on signing permanently and our next big hope Mikey Moore. Then make him the highest paid player at the club earning over 100k more than anyone else in our squad and earning more than 200k more than the likes of Porro, Udogie and VDV.

Now call me a pessimist but it feels to me like a lot more can go wrong in signing Sane then can go right! It feels very much like a Man United type of signing where you end up having some player who's past his best earning 5 or 6 times the salary as the players who are giving 100% on the pitch every week.

The only way I can justify signing Sane is if we are letting Son go and if Sane is actually willing to take a wage decrease down to 200k a week. And I think thats an absolute long shot. Anyway this deal is a non-runner. Just all noise from his agent. He'll end up in Saudi on 500k a week is my guess.

they should be all very gettable for us. would improve 4 positions in the first 11. you also get far more out of solanke when he has actual quality wide of him.

I won't hold my breath this window. I thought Levy would back Ange last summer, and he bought players for the future (Bergvall, Gray) but not enough for the now (Solanke only).

I've also been pretty underwhelmed when we've qualified for the CL. It isn't the silver bullet I once hoped it was.

When was the last time we bought someone worth the ticket price. A ready made game changer.

For me it would be Ndombele. World class talent, baller for France and Lyon then takes a contract with us and retires while still playing the dickhead.

Of those that worked out possibly Van Der Vaart but Ginola might be truly the last guy like that. It’s why I’d love a Cherki singing, been ages since we tried anything like that.

I can think of 3 simple signings that would completely improve us and make us a squad that can compete in all competitions next season.

Sign both Wharton/Baleba and Mbeumo. Both replacing Bissouma and Richarlison in the current squad. Mbeumo is perfect as he can be our back up 9 but also can be a regular starter on the wing. 2 signings that instantly improve our first 11.

Third signing would be a Ben Davies replacement. We really should be just letting Davies go at this stage to imptove squad depth. A new LCB/LB who would be of a higher standard to Spence in the left back position so that if Udogie was injured for a few months we'd have an able back up. Ideally this player could push Udogie too so that if Udogie was out of form then this guy could take his place. I can't think of a suitable candidate here but I'd be hoping Paratici can work some magic and find the perfect profile in Italy. Off the top of my head Hincape sounds good.

Vicario
Porro Romero VDV Udogie
Kulusevski Wharton Maddison
Mbeumo Solanke Son

Kinsky
Spence Danso Dragusin LB
Bergval Bentancur Sarr
Johnson Tel Odobert

Archie Gray then acts as a utility player who can cover multiple positions. Decisions will have to be made on Scarlett/Lankshear/Donley/Divine/Moore to decide who goes on loan and who stays.

Now that to me feels like proper squad depth where no injuries should properly set us back. Obviously if we end up with something mad like 10 injuries then we'll fall off like any team but that to me feels like we should be able to make 4 or 5 changes a game and still feel full strenght. For example you could rest Porro, Maddison, Wharton and Son for Spence, Bergval, Bentancur and Johnson and you will still be happy with our starting 11.
