Isn't the debt being payed off in installments over like 25 years with next to no interest? How is it affecting what we're allowed to spend?

Stadium debt; yes......

We do pay interest... It's just fixed and all locked in up-front.

(Various info floating around but repayments clock in somewhere between £30-40m p/a.)

Outstanding player-related installments and other shit; no.......

Whilst I don't fully understand the spiel on the page, it is in here: Club Announcement - New Stadium Scheme Financing

"The loan is secured against the new stadium and related commercial and match day revenues"

I believe there are covenants and such that basically, as above, mean there's a ring fence around part of our revenue. Our lower interest rate is probably not just 'the market at the time', but also our strong financial footing, and - as such - secured against our ability to be ran sensibly.

I think the terms of the deal have to be renegotiated if the ownership changes, too.

I think others have explained it.

Put simply when we borrowed a lot of money the lenders would have put in rules about how we run our finances. Banking covenants.

“It was revealed that the club’s net transfer debt currently stands at £279.3, thus making it impossible for them to spend big this summer unless there is a significant injection of cash from ENIC.……………………………..,,,,,,

So you’ve got the PSR situation, the budget situation and then you’ve got Simon’s point which is all about cash. It’s all well and good having this capacity but actually, if you don’t have the pounds and pence for what’s due which is around £250m in historic transfer fees, instalments on those, the wages, the debt service and the running costs to the club.

“They are very, very significant here. Daniel Levy is not in a position to put any more money in. He’s a very wealthy guy because of his holding of shares, but unless he sells those shares he doesn’t have the cash to put into the club.

That leaves the Lewis Trust – not Joe Lewis himself – the Lewis Trust being effectively the only funder around for Spurs from a cash perspective because they can’t raise any more debt.

“On top of that, they potentially have some covenant issues and so the problem they’re going to have is nothing to do with Financial Fair Play, it’s to do with actual cash. How do they actually pay for things? Unless they either raise money from one of their shareholders or sell some footballers, they won’t have the cash to pay for new footballers.”

Plus we have been running at a loss the past few seasons…… that CL money is going to be an absolute godsend to Levy. We have effectively already spent it.

I can see where the recruitment thinking on Tel might be.

He definitely looked better as an inverted wide left forward than as a CF, and with his back to goal. There is some Sonesque tropes. Neither can really dribble past people on pure skill, but when both can face up a fb, they have some short burst, can cut in/out, wrong foot the fb/cb and do that shift/shoot/cross thing.

I think thd recruitment bods see Tel as the Son understudy.

Personally, so far, I think Tel is miles better/more tenacious/diligent tactically, without the ball, but will possibly never be the mid range finisher Son was in his prime.

That was league goals that people didn’t think he would score 15-20 of, and he didn’t.
Sounds a lot like the goalposts being moved.

I’m sure everyone was confident he’d be our top goal scorer this season.

Any argument just reinforces my original point which is that many people can’t give him credit for being one of our best performers this season. Those entrenched views will be the same for Tel (yeah he did this but did he do that?).
