Transfers The Summer Transfer Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I dont even think its about fattening up the youngsters to sell for profit anymore. Its more about hoping we stumble on the next Dele or Bale. Its also about low wages that youngsters will be on. Really a return to the Pleat/Arnesen 2004 to 2010 model. But times moved on, we were largely the only club doing that back then and fair play we were pretty good at it. Now everyone does it and most are a lot better at it than us. Its fantasy to think we'll have the Defoe, Carrick, Lennon, Rose, Bale success rate we had then.

I truly think that under Frank, we have in Bergvall, Gray, Udogie, Micky, Moore, Odobert, Tel, a true core of talent where two or three (especially Bergvall) will be as good as a Dele or Bale, even a Modric.

Bergvall was impressive for an 18 year old - however, had the same performances come from a 25 year old, we'd all be screaming for his head. He did make a number of mistakes; and failed to find any real key passes. A lot of development to do, but certainly has maturity and professionalism beyond his years.

Skipp and Winks also put in amazing performances at a young age - but didn't turn into the next Modric. Winks gave a masterclass against Real Madrid when he was 19 for instance.

Tel has the workrate, confidence and swagger to emerge as a top goal scorer.

I've not seen anything from Gray, Odobert or Moore to suggest they are anything special - and I feel that Udogie has reached his ceiling in ability.

He is a 6 that doesn’t play 6 and couldn’t lock that position down for Leeds in the Championship or for Spurs worst ever performing PL side

But other than that he is a 6
When Gray first came to the club, he said his best position was an 8.

All the best highlight reels of Gray at Leeds, he was playing more as a CM.

Not sure how he has now been pigeon holed as a defensive midfielder. Filled in at FB, CB and DM last season.

Brentford wanted to sign him when we did, so hopefully Frank has a role that suits him.

He's United bound.

I think the club have moved on to another option. It's obvious that he wants them as a first option, one thing is for sure, that if United land him for something like 70 million and adding Cuna's fee of 63 million then I can't see United having the funding this transfer window to add much more quality to their squad.

That is unless Ratcliffe was lying over their financial plight.

Those staff he lad off must be really pleased with this.

Mbeumo choosing United even though we got CL and his former coach, just shows you the reality of our wage bracket and theirs.

Thats just a very narrow minded view though. Many outstanding players have come from the Portuguese League and to dismiss him out of hand is just silly.

And at no point did I call Solanke a mug. I just don’t think he is or ever will be a top level striker and I think spending 65 million on him was poor business.
Many, many strikers have scored high numbers of goals in a single season in the Premier League, does not mean they are top strikers.
Chris Wood for example scored 20(!) PL goals this season, would you take him at Spurs ahead of Gyokeres?
See where Gyorkes goes this season then have the conversation then, he's had a hot streak for a very good side that play championship level opposition for three quarters of their league games. If Chris Wood went to Sporting Lisbon they'd be building him a statue outside the stadium in 3 years (I'm taking the piss).

The thing is I've watched Solanke play 40 odd games this season, I think he will turn out to be well worth the money. He's just a very good all round player and has about 5 seasons left of top level football. It's all personal opinions, I just don't get how anyone who's watched us this year can think Solanke was poor considering our form.

IF this is true? Seems strange they would want rid, what's the catch?
He’s shit. His first few games there got the hype up but when you watch him closer, he’s really just a head down merchant. Doesn’t see a pass or play it at the right time if he ever does. He wasted a lot break opportunities for West Ham. There was two or three away at Utd he could have played a simple ball trough on goal to a team mate but tried to do it himself and got disposed. Selfish player who’s not as good as he thinks he is. Swerve. West Ham fans don’t rate him either

Why you posting the conversations of random fans?
Yeah this is the transfer thread , he should be posting about the 3 superstars Levy has signed . Not having a pop, just venting my frustrations at Levy being a cheapskate as usual . Even if we sign Eze it is nowhere near enough with a CL campaign . We need a minimum of three experienced first team high quality players , we all know that isn’t happening

When Ange first came to the club, people thought that Porro wouldn't be able to play as a RB in a back-four but he proved people wrong as early as the second game of the season against Man United.

I'm sure we'll have plenty of players doing things we didn't think they could do under Frank.
