Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Yawn, another Levy transfer day passed with little activity as pre season looms closer, get your finger out ya bald twat, it gets more frustrating as we kinda guessed this was what was going to happen.

Well Levy then is the clouds.

The league the last few seasons is changing. We don’t have 4-5 good clubs, we have 6-7 of them. Liverpool, City, Woolwich, Chelsea are getting joined by Newcastle and Villa who are maxing their PSR each season to build up as their owners are rich.

Top 4-5 will require big investment and probably an increase in the wage structure of the club. If Levy expects Frank or any manager to cheap his way to top 4 he is a fool.
If Frank goes from 17th to 5th with this squad while playing Champions League in midweek he's a goddamn hero.

Look, in reality we need both and a top 6 club which isn't run by Levy would sign both.

Woolwich signing Eze, Zubimendi etc whilst finishing 2nd for a few seasons in a row, signing Rice for 100 million.

It's quite simple, their owners are going for it. Not recklessly, but they are putting the money up. Levy is the curse we just can't get rid of. Constantly sucking our spirits dry by doing far too little year in year out.

We just finished 17th. Yes we won a trophy but let's be honest, it's a one off. We just got into the CL.

Yet once again we are scraping the barrel in terms of ambition.

I used to get angry about it, but now I'm just detached.

I don't think I'll ever get into Spurs like I used to until Levy's gone. Only way is that Frank performs miracles and fosters something special with a squad and makes us challengers and a proper team again.

Last part is exactly what Levy is banking on. A manager who can have us outperforming on the cheap and is happy to work with what he's got.

He plays as an inside 10 in a 3-4-2-1 system, he isn't a natural left winger or a natural 10, we already have two 10's in our team

Also Eze on another level to Kudus, behave, the guy had purple patch in his last 3 months at Palace before that you had Palace fans saying that he was lazy and inconsistent, are we saying that a couple of months of good form is all it takes to clear other players or are we just perhaps over reacting a little to recency bias maybe?

RW is where we need an upgrade and cover most, not an inside 10 where we struggle to work out where his best position is in our team and tbh Kudus is more versatile anyway.

If Frank wants good players then he'll have no complaints about Kudus then.
You know players and especially good ones can adapt and play slightly differently, it’s not that complicated. Is Arteta going to have to play exactly like Glasner at Palace. Players understand where the space is. It’s more natural than you think. It’s not pieces on a chess board.

I do agree a bit on Eze being inconsistent and going missing a bit in games he’s not perfect especially off the ball. But technically he’s miles better than kudus who is head down, raw still at 24 and lacking in football intelligence. We need quality over position in the final third right now.

This notion AGAIN that Ange sacrificed the league for the Europa - fuck me lads let it go will ya!

Postecoglou said that after the January transfer window closed he decided he would focus the team's attentions on winning the Europa League. Surely that means the league wasn't the priority from then onwards.

We should probably save ourselves the time and hassle and just close this thread. We're not signing anyone good. Just more children and bargain bucket freebies.

We finished 17th last year, and we're not going to improve the squad? Yeah... we're fucked.

Then only reason we built the new stadium was to stroke Daniel Levy's ego. We were conned. Apparently the new ground was supposed to put us in a new financial stratosphere and give us more spending power. Did it fuck. Now we have to sell to buy despite having the lowest wage to turnover percentage in the division.

Highest paid chairman in the league? What a cunt.

Not really.

If he’s not finished top 5 and won a trophy after 2 seasons, he will have been objectively worse.

If it’s been 2 top 6 finishes, there is maybe a case that he’s building something solid that could be better but his first 2 seasons will have been worse.

Top 8 this season should and will have Frank in the hot seat. Especially if there is a good option available.
Don't you think the Spurs fanbase will have realistic expectations after finishing 17th?

I would be more than pleased if we get the PL- and CL-titles.

Guy posting in transfer thread suggesting we close... the transfer thread lol

Excuse Me What GIF by Biden Inauguration Committee
Sorry.

I don't get it.

For what it's worth, that 23/24 season was largely just a mirage of outperforming xG (plus some goals against shit Europa League opponents, and as we know from the Brennan Johnson thread, those don't count)

There was not a real difference in underlying quality between the two seasons. A lot of successful dribbles and not a lot of end product.
I watched him in his first season as he was someone I had heard a lot about from
Ajax. He was one of the most exciting players in the league, scored some incredible goals and was a constant threat whenever I saw west ham
play. Even if you disregard his europa league games he put up good numbers in the prem in a team which don’t see a lot of the ball.

People pretending kudos wasn’t one of the most talked about and hyped players at the end of last season is so disingenuous.

if we go back to before we won the cup and ask ourselves how we thought the transfer window would play out we're pretty much living it right now: sign on our loans permanently, sell off romero before we buy the best available player who's on the cheap and hope he fits in and drag it all out to the last day. i think the cup win and cl qualification and levy's bullshit we-want-to-win crap got us thinking we were something different. but we're not

it's like we want it to be one way...
