Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Sure, though Vicario did come significantly cheaper and is a good and useful player.

Then you look at that summer and those savings lead us to be able to be aggressive and get Micky Van De Ven over the line.

There's nothing wrong with finding a cheaper option to maximize your resources for other pursuits, so long as the cheaper option can play and you actually do maximize elsewhere.

But Kudus is barely any cheaper! It makes ZERO sense

He's not much cheaper in terms of fee but much cheaper in terms of the wages we'd have to offer to have a chance.

Vicario £10m cheaper. Think he's a bit flakey but then i dont rate Raya that highly either but he's more consistant.

As for Eze/Kudus its the wages i'd imagine as well as the need for someone off the right. I think we need both or similar.

I mean I guess we'll see! Why do we think Kudus would come so cheap? He's on 90kpw already at West Ham.

Obviously the Levy regime spends a disgracefully low amount of the club's resources on the squad in the aggregate, on wages especially. The totals need to add up, and they do not, every single year.

But we also need to allocate that money intelligently, and there is no dumber thing to do than to spend like 90% of a tip-top price for someone who is not a tip-top player when one is sitting RIGHT THERE for 100%. That is a money losing proposition in the end, every single time.

Didn't they tell us that it's about signing the right "character" and they do character background checks blah blah blah.

Kudus main issue at Spammers is his character and temperament ffs. Did they forget to do these oh so important checks on this occasion?

Sooooooo much shit talking...anything to not spend the right money/right wage on the right player. Settle for the third choice temperamental player.

For someone who has constantly knocked and berated Brennan Johnson all year I find it uber weird all of a sudden you think he's a world beater who doesn't need replacing.

Where do you think Kudus will line up, I'll give you one guess...

Yes, if you don't want Kudus, you must think Brennan Johnson is a worldbeater.

Fuck off shady.

Vicario was 10m cheaper. Raya was the safer bet! Apparently the club were happy to wait on Brentford to lower the fee (Woolwich might have hijacked us anyway) but Ange wasn't convinced by Raya's attitude after a phone call with him. So he gave the go ahead for Vicario then who Paratici had put forward as a potential alternative had we missed out on Raya.

13 if you count the loan fee Woolwich paid, and Brentford were holding out for more from us.

Levy did something he rarely does in that negotiation, calling a bluff and sticking to it.

But it only works out because 1. Vicario is good and 2. we turned around and spent those savings on Maddison and VDV, who are top class.

If we can do that with Kudus, wonderful, but we're already starting with less savings to pass around, and Eze is a lot better than David Raya. Being held to ransom for a goalkeeper is a different situation than not stumping up a below-market release clause for a top class creative attacker.

Nothing to do with narratives just objective outcomes.

5th one season
Trophy the second.

Frank needs a 5th place finish and a trophy in his first 2 seasons to equal it.
Well if he doesn't have a 5th place finish, he won't have a job. Levy has demonstrated that for 2 decades.

I think 2 5th place finishes isn't far off Stumbling 5th+worst season in almost a century+2nd tier European trophy.
