Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I would be stoked if we signed Nunez, as you say he works hard, he reads the play so well and always seems to run into the right areas. Signing a good striker after they have had a bad scoring season is better than signing an average striker after they had a good season. Massive upgrade on Solanke and Richarliason IMO. Won't happen though unfortunately.
I’m with you- I like Nunez a lot. Something didn’t fit with him at Liverpool but I think he can do better elsewhere.

Nunez averages a goal/assist every 160 min in the PL last season (his worst ever season), every 107 min in 23/24. Solanke was 183.75 last season and 151 min in 23/24. That's real goals and assists, not just X's.

On top of that, this guy helps you not concede goals with his off ball graft from the front. He's relentless, and does it properly.

I get he's an agent of chaos, and there a slicker cunts out there, but we aren't fucking signing them. Someone like him to have in the armoury wouldn't be terrible, depending on the fee/salary of course.
Stats like this only work if each player has played a similar number of games.
What if a player scored and assisted in the one and only game they played?

You've also compared the stats of a player who won a title vs a player who finished 17th. Of course the former is going to have more chances and create more.

You can do something illegal like refusing to honour a release clause in a contract but if there is no mechanism to action then it gets dragged out in legal proceedings. In Spain the release clause gets paid to the league itself who themselves hold the contracts so that thing doesn’t happen. The Forest owner might say I am breaking the law but who can enforce it, if the enforcement mechanism is weak or fails he still wins.
The FA could act. If it was proven that the RC had been met and if the player states he wants to join said club the fa could de register him as a forest player and register him as a spurs player (once he had a spurs contract)

Forest will never go to court over this. If the reporting around the player's wishes is correct, persistent legal action may undermine the validity of the football transfer system in the context of the intersection of employment and human rights laws. Neither Forest nor Spurs will allow that to happen.
They won’t have to go to court unless MGW wants to take them there. Only the player can end the stalemate.

We have to let the big boys do their business first so that we can feed on the scraps

You know it makes sense

I'm not really convinced that's how Spurs operate. There is a large scouting network, and they would have been tracking many players for years.

Tel, Danso, Vuskovic, Kudus, Takai and Gibbs-White (hopefully just a formality) improves the squad. Still some glaring gaps, with Spence/Davies not really good enough to play backup to Udogie/Porro.

We don't shop in the market of elite players who are close to their prime, but we do compete with the big teams for young 'up and coming' players. And I'd say that Spurs getting Vuskovic, Bergvall, Tel, Gray, Van De Ven should be regarded as significant in beating off other bigger teams that would have been interested.

You can just say you only want him for 'the song' and that's totally fine.

No idea if Guehi rumours are true but we did make a pathetic doomed to fail bid on deadline day in January . If true we are competing with Liverpool then it’s another ridiculous we tried moment . Now this might not be the case, but we have plenty of previous making bids that we knew when making them they would fail . The usual tactic was bidding for players with third party ownership , but that has been done to death , so new ways of failing are needed.

Clearly the brief from the club for him to put out but wtf does that mean in reality?

If it means just waiting around for the situation to change, then why not focus on other deals

My man, in terms of "we tried but the other club moved the goalposts", that's a homerun for Levy. I mean, it's perfect as far as he's concerned...club can come out with its usual bullshit of "MGW was Thomas' No 1 pick", "No point signing an alternative not really fancied by the boss", "No point signing someone that's not gonna improve what we've already got" etc etc. And he doesn't spend a penny.

That Forest owner/chairman is an absolute cunt, but let's be honest...so us ours.

Tel, Takai and Kudus come July 22nd, after finishing 17th with 22 losses...that's inexcusable.
