Pretty sure it's the other way around

One word monsieur - WAGES
We just won't pay nearly enough to get elite ready now players over the line that's why we're falling further behind. That's the problem. I don't think there's any real leaders. We need a proper captain.

You know this and yet you still claim Mr Levy and the board are doing a good job for the football club.
I agree we don’t pay the wages to attract top talent.

And also if we paid the SAME wages then they would still choose our rivals because wages being equal, Liverpool, Utd, Chelsea and City are more attractive than us.

In order to break into the top group, you need to pay MORE than the going rate for transfer fees, agent fees and wages. This is exactly what Chelsea and City did to put themselves in contention.

Levy believes that doing this would not be sustainable for us (and in the shorter term is not sustainable for clubs like Villa who are trying this).

I don’t know if he’s right but I do know that no club has had more sustained success at breaking into the elite in the PL era than we have, without the backing of a nation state.

We have lost our way the past 5 years though and I hold Levy responsible for that (especially the Mourino, Nuno, Conte managerial hires that were catastrophic).

He's bang average. There's a reason he's now in Ligue 2 with Saint Etienne. Also done his hamstring and his attitude is questionable.

Saw him live 3 or 4 times last year btw.
So he's better than Richarlison then.

To be fair to him he did his job, hes 20 years old. He can make it stick up top and them getting relageted isn't solely on him.

28 games
12 goals
4 assists

Just my opinion but I think he's gonna have a very decent career in the top 5 leagues.

You keep going on about this. The problem isn’t that he made a comment saying we’ll compete for the PL. No one cared anyway. The problem is he’s stitched Frank up and left us with a squad that isn’t top 10 material while ripping off fans to gain record revenues.
Can't disagree with this surely, Notabadsquad ?

Levy OUT!

No club just uses data though, it’s always used in conjunction with scouting.

We seem to be identifying (judging by links) some decent targets but the scouting and actual “decisions” on who/how to recruit still seem mired in flawed process.

Going from Ange to Frank for example means a radically different philosophy. Therefore the whole fucking recruitment process has to change gear.

Bottom line is though, any coach will need footballers with the best possible physical and technical qualities.
Say we got £100m available, where you spending it?

Suprised we've not been linked to chiesa tbh. I wouldn't want him as hes not ever been the same since his big injury. Would be typical spurs though.

Edit. I just hope that now paratici seems to be active in transfer activity he can broker something decent out of nowhere.

He has fucked the club over, when you look at the team, its a mish mash of average rubbish going nowhere other than midtable.
I really don't agree.

I think our starting back line of porro, romero, vdv and udogie is up there with the best in the league as a unit if it gets coached well, which I am confident it will be.
the rest needs big improvements. we've been signing the young prospects who all should be top 4 players in their time, so I'm glad we signed them, but they should be understudies.
Maddison's injury could be a blessing in disguise because he IS a midtable player and we should now sign a starting number 10 who is better than him. and I think we will.
Then there's big question marks over Solanke. Is he a top 4 forward? He isn't going anywhere so let's hope with a properly coached team for a change and some decent service he proves to be

You are entitled to your view/opinion of course.
I don't see anything special i must be honest, its average everywhere I look.
Levy's stupid comments have raised the bar in regards to expectation levels, none of which tbe club will ever meet.
He has stitched his manager up who, if not already will soon realise all is not what it seems.
Tottenham could not win the championship under levy let alone a Premier league, those words will haunt him till the day he dies, he will never deliver on it and that's ended him.
Just wait until after the PSG mauling, the pressure will ramp up even more, they will scramble around for loans or cheap signings to placate the fans too little too late.

Good post. A different perspective.

I think your post is entirely valid except for 3 big reasons as I see them.

Much as it was clear Postecoglou just wasn't up to the job, 17th isn't just down to a manager and his coaching team.

Secondly, I think Frank would want 2 or 3 players who kind of came in with him. Just implies a certain bond and those he can get answers from re: murmurs within the squad, etc. I think its also a display of being backed by the people who employed you.

Fans thrive and live off the buzz of new signings. It adds volume and belief, especially when they are considered high grade.

If Frank cane out straightaway and as soon as he signed and said I dont want new players because I want to give th current squad 4 months to assess them, and will only seek to replace first-teamers who leave - fine.

I like the gist of your post. I think the risks would be there for many to see.

I think people also forget we have bought a lot of new players the last few years who we are young and have a lot of promise... a few of whom could be on the verge of a breakout season for us.

I agree, big names get people buzzing, but I don't buy this idea that out team is shit and we are on course to relegation woe is me shit cos of one exceptionally bad league campaign which is a huge outlier.
