Match Super Cup Final - Spurs vs PSG, Weds 13th Aug, 8pm

The similarity between our Bayern and PSG game is that once substitutes were made, the overall quality lowered.

There is clearly a depth problem, particularly in the attack and midfield areas, so that must be addressed in the market otherwise we will continually face issues in latter stages of matches, particularly against high level opposition.

One would think this is a trophy match (no matter how big or small it is) and Saturday is the very first match of a long season against Burnley. Maybe prioritize this and keep Palhinha and Kudus for the full match and use them as subs on Saturday (if needed).

Shudda, cudda, wudda.

We didn't schedule it.

Eh?

Shudda cudda wudda? But we still lost mate.

I’m not making excuses for the opposition because they beat us.

I’m saying we should keep our feet on the ground and realize there’s still a lot of work to be done before we can think about really hurting a team like PSG when they are at their best

Let’s be real here, that was probably PSG at 60% for 80 mins

Not sure how much difference it would have made but bit of a shame Johnson didn't get a run-out given it was his goal that took us to the Super Cup.
I agree, it was baffling bringing Tel on instead of him or even Odobert.

There was a lot Frank got right about the game tonight, but the loss probably falls on his shoulders.

Solanke was clearly unfit, although Richi looked gassed so I accept he couldn't have done much else there.

Bissouma would have also been a useful option to have on the bench though and he should have brought on Bergvall before Gray (or even left Palinha on for longer).

Ultimately he's also responsible for the players dropping back as much as they did too.

Early days mind, so hopefully he learns from his mistakes.

Of course keep our feet on the ground but the general consensus before the match was that even a 60% PSG would smash us.

They didn't and you can't now turn around and belittle the performance because PSG were only at 60%.

Hes a centre half. Not supposed to strike a ball as well. Tels was terrible. Skipping dancing around. At least vdv got it on target
It doesn’t matter if it’s on target it isn’t a successful kick. A centre half shouldn’t be taking 3rd kick unless they’re specialist pk taker. Again, tel gets all the shit for missing.

I’m not holding anything against any of the PK takers, they stood up and took one. “A CB not being able to strike a ball as well”. It’s not Sunday league division 8. It’s elite footballers. A goalkeeper is probably one of the best strikers of the ball at that level. A penalty is more mental than technique. If in doubt hard and down the middle.

If he has us defending with 9 men on the halfway line, claiming making subs to win games makes it an underserving win or playing the same reckless way no matter the personnel available you can bet I will.

That's because I want us to succeed, if that makes me a piece of shit in your eyes then so be it.

No - what makes you a "nasty piece of shit" is you behaving like a nasty piece of shit.

For example - you pretending that Kudus playing a simple ball to the outside so Richy can run onto for it a speculative 25 yard shot is a "key pass" - while ignoring all the ballooned crosses that sailed over our box throughout the game.

The difference between you and I is that I can accept this is a known deficiency in his game and hope and support him to get better at it - while YOU would be on here calling BJ a useless cunt for the exact same ballooned cross.

But because you've hung your standard to Kudus you take any imagined slight against him and pretend people are calling for him not to start over BJ. This is nonsense. Normal fans just realise we need goals/assists from our attackers.

Similarly you're so addicted to your Ange Out Cult that you are fighting a fight normal people have moved on from months ago. Normal fans recognise that Frank WON us this game with his tactics then LOST this game with his subs. If beating Burnley is more important than this trophy then fine - subs needed to be made. Normal people can make that distinction.

Nasty pieces of shit like you would be hanging Ange from the nearest tree if he'd made those subs and lost that game. AND YOU KNOW IT.

I am a Tottenham supporter. You are a hater. Hate is in your soul. It's fucking depressing. Get help.

Is it worth watching the replay? Was on at sparrows fart over here. Reading the comments it sounds very much like not much has changed. Galant effort but we lacked the quality and depth, need signings blah blah blah.

Great point. Didn’t think about Brennan😞he could’ve been the scapegoat instead of tel for the second striker change when we were camped in our box. :mourthumb:Could’ve been one of the more attacking players that put their hand up and take a pen instead of Micky too🧐

Nah it’s all tel’s fault🙈

Yes very much worth watching. Sarr looks very impressive. Richarlison showing what he can do when fit. And some excellent defending.

Just not a sniff of a goal from general play. Hardly surprising given our injuries/transfers

I guess the ball was magically placed at his feet before he played the "simple ball" unlike Brennan who regularly holds off opponents under pressure before picking out someone so they can take a shot or find them in the box as opposed to what he actually does which is cross blind 90% of the time.
The difference between you and I is that I can accept this is a known deficiency in his game and hope and support him to get better at it - while YOU would be on here calling BJ a useless cunt for the exact same ballooned cross.
BJ is useless for us if we want to be a serious team, the likes of Kudus are not which would be evident if you understood the sport which you clearly do not or even if you wanted the us to compete.
But because you've hung your standard to Kudus you take any imagined slight against him and pretend people are calling for him not to start over BJ. This is nonsense. Normal fans just realise we need goals/assists from our attackers.
Hung my standard? What on earth are you on about mate? This is the first competitive game I've seen him play for us and he did much better than BJ ever would have done in the same scenario.

You mentioned Ange not me you fucking fool and seem to be having a pop at the new manager in his first game which happened to be against the best team in the world, hmm?

Course you are.

I’m not belittling anything. We lost.

I saw encouraging things but also think people are getting a bit carried away. Thats all.
Well apologies.

I see now that I shouldn't get excited over a hobby that takes up a fuck ton of my time and for the last few years, bar one glorious moment, has been an absolute joy drainer of a ball ache.

No-one is saying we're winning the quadruple. We're enjoying the aftermath of a 75min performance where we went toe to toe with 'the best team in the world' and were winning.

We see enough shit as Spurs fans - I'm on my 46th year of it - some of us look for the positives when we see them.

Yes PSG weren't smack at it.
Yes it's a glorified friendly.

But it was fun. And enjoyable. Not words regularly associated with Spurs over the past few years.

Fuck it...WE ARE WINNING THE QUADRUPLE!

ALL ABOARD THE FRANK TRAIN!

We won the final we needed too. This is just nothing pre season friendly. Glorified charity shield. They have barely played no more than a week. They weren’t anywhere near match fit. Gave a good account of ourselves though. This ain’t worth losing any sleep of over. I’ll be more fucked off if we lose Saturday
Pre season friendly ? Did you see how PSG celebrated ?
A team that won everything last season.
