Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

And boy has it worked. The media are lapping it up. We are a laughing stock on social media. Spurs podcasts I listen to are all firmly 'Levy out'. Levy's name is in the mud. The atmosphere in the next home game could be awkward for him.

We have been dominated by our fiercest rivals and it seems like it's Levy at fault.

I've never known a more humiliating transfer.
if levy has any pride at all this would get a reaction......surely.......

Listen the the VFTL pod, James Maw and Danny Kelly summed it up perfectly, he’s a terrible negotiator who can’t sign big players in their primes. He never has, no matter what position the team has been in with respect to competing for Major honors and he never will.

As long as Levy has any involvement in this football club, we aren’t winning the PL nor the CL that he claims to covet.

And every time he fails, like this summer, it’s the fans who still pick up the tab and take all the flack.
Get ready for the but but but's

But Van der Vaart

Like the only one in 25 years. Even Sugar was able to role out a Klinsmann and a Ginola when were piss poor, had an outdated stadium and were outside the top 30 in Europe when it came to revenue.

We should sign Kenan Yildiz. He's a tricky number 10 who can also play left wing. he's only 20 but he's played loads for Juventus and is an established Turkey international with over 20 caps. He's been one of Europe's best known youngsters for a few years.
A paritici masterstroke phone call and 60 million Euros should do it. he's a square peg in a square hole. he's the right age to mature at the same time as the rest of the team we're building too.
:porrohands:it just makes sense.
We don’t do sensible

2 prem alternatives to Eze and Savinho that are arguably just as good and might even be cheaper are Paqueta and Ndiaye.

Ndiaye is probably better than Savinho in this moment in time. Certainly looked better in the prem last season. Eze had a way better season than Paqueta last year but if you go back 2 summers, City nearly signed Paqueta for over 80m while Eze wasn't even the main man at Palace. Both are 27 so Paqueta has already shown he can be as good as Eze and no reason he can't go one better.

They'd be the 2 I want anyway but not seeing any links to either which is annoying.
Everton are not gonna sell Ndiaye this summer. They are moving into their new stadium and he’s arguable their key player, certainly in an attacking sense. Moyes has also been vocal about how short of players they are. Just a non-starter for me.

Yep it’s utterly humiliating. Honestly feels one of the lowest moments for this club. Not only did they humiliate us so badly but they’ve also signed a top player and pretty much completed their squad.

Honestly with the way our luck is, they may well win the league this season and Eze will be pointed out as the difference maker. Very early days but to go and win at United away whilst playing crap is the stuff title winners do.

It’s just shameful how Levy has allowed this to happen. Maybe we had bad luck on MGW and Eze deals but we simply shouldn’t be in this position with 9 days of the window where we have no 10 or left winger.

It also makes the signing of Tel even more baffling. I’m convinced Levy actually sanctioned it because we’d already spent so much on the loan fee when we were utterly desperate in January (sounds familiar?), that despite Tel stinking the place out, Levy couldn’t countenance giving the player back and losing out on the money he’s already paid, so we signed him with the hope his value can be extracted at a later date.

I bet you Lange will be binned after this window closes, he’ll be Levy’s fall guy for the disaster.

Right, there are reasons..... but lets be very very clear about what was being said.... by you

His priority is never to get the player signed. His priority is to win the deal, that’s why he drags out negotiations, offers players in part exchange, haggles over bonus clauses, lowballs etc.

Just be consistent - we CLEARLY didn't haggle endlessly for the players I brought up, and 90% of people on here feel like we OVERPAID for them.

I can, if you would like, go through other teams wasted transfers if you want - if it would make you feel better and prove that you are completely Spurs-focused.

So let's do it, though im sure you will come back to me with another reason why I'm wrong, even if it completely contradicts previous things that have been said.

Liverpool & City probably waste the least money on transfers - City ---- obvious reasons --- Liverpool is a model I would love to be able to replicate - but the rest -

Woolwich - Haavertz, Jesus, Fabio Viera, Pepe - Gokyeres remains to be seen, but he is more of a risk than Solanke

Liverpool - Nunez, Konate (I do not rate this guy for 40m)

Man United - I mean - you surely don't need me to list here....

Chelsea - same as United - come on bro....
some teams throw a lot of money at their teams. see what sticks. and quickly move on those that don't. except united of course, lol.

then there's us. it's pretty obvious to me that levy tried to flog the last team (poch's team) to death rather than rejuvinate it. then it petered out.

its also obvious the new team we are building is set to peak in about 5 years time. most of our signings have been with that in mind. filling in the pieces of the puzzle to compete and peak then. so we're early in the project. and thank god we got rid of ange because he was the wrong guy at the helm to build this team

In any case, when that team does come together and peaks, expect levy to not rejuvinate it and flog it to death just like last time.

Surely more than 60m?

What’s he on at Juve as well? Kid like that will know that he can command top wages on his next move. Romero type wages.

Classy player, world class ceiling. Don’t think Levy can sign a player like that though.

We don't know exactly what goes on but yes, make a bid, and then move on if it,'s rejected out of sight.

In 12 days time none of us want to see we tried.
We don't want to see it, it feels as if we will though.
With all the infrastructure in place now for transfer strategy, look from the outside worse than ever.
If nothing is happening with savinho by the end of the weekend just move on.
Frank needs 2 or 3 in to give him a chance in competing across the competition's.

More chance of Halley's comet being seen befire the close of the window.
So it's happening!

Awkward Jim Carrey GIF

Most?

Romero, Porro, Kulusevski, VDV, Vicario, Solanke, Richarlison, Bentancur, Bissouma, Kudus, Danso, Maddison

Clearly not meant to peak in 5 years time

Some have been bought to peak in the next few years, but it's not most.

Sarr, Udogie, Gray, Bergvall, Odobert, Tel, Vuskovic

We need more players already on the verge or at their peak, but let's not hyperbolise.

yeah but this is the whole problem with trying to sign suitable players now. They are going to be the best players at lesser clubs. We'd have to overpay and offer over 60m but we created this scenario ourselves by not acting quicker.

Otherwise the alternative is just punting on more young players who probably aren't ready to start for us.

Definitely. The only players I can see us getting now are from skint European clubs who need the money.
