The great part about Frank's tactical philosophy is that it is very sustainable long term.

Frank has adapted in all 3 games by playing three at the back, hitting long or playing short and utilising our players to their utmost strengths.

Frank seems to be confident that even if we dont add anyone in, he can get a tune out of this squad, and the evidence says it all.

Players seem committed and happy including Romero which we all know is massive.

The best part is now we have a manager that can now manage players minutes to avoid injury! Who'd have thought?

The seasons success and consistency will hinder on fitness/injury severity and hopefully we are fortunate in that area as Frank manages minutes. Adding players is a necessity towards that goal.

The more I see of him, the more I like him. His pressers are always clear and concise, politely answers the most stupidest of questions with the right amount of diplomatic disdain.
I'm trying not to get carried away, but his tenure so far is looking promising.
Like everyone else, I hope that he gets the backing and reinforcements that we need to challenge. From past experience, there's no way we'll get through a season involving CL games without being able to rotate the squad effectively.

I think he/we have a chance, because he won't just play the same way or players all season.

Could you ever imagine Ange, Conte or Mourinho risking playing Gray in the game against Burnley, as their first game. Would never ever happen.

Super impressed. The variation he's shown in his first three games is excellent. There's a real attention to detail there that comes through. Our pressing last night was incredible, not just the energy from the guys but the plan behind it all. Noticed it felt like when Dias got the ball and Lewis drifted into the middle, Spence would follow the RB and having VDV press the opposition centre back was really creative. Hats off.

Wells has been here since April 2023, meaning that Ange had him in his coaching staff for the entire time that he was here.

That utter shambles of a defense under Ange becomes even more difficult to explain if it's indeed Wells who's currently in charge of organizing this well-drilled defense.

Was Ange going out of his way to sabotage Wells' efforts on that front or what? How is such a turnaround in such a short amount of time possible?
He was ignoring his suggestions.

Until last 5 games of EL where he accepted we couldn't win it without employing basic defensive principles.

Which he continued to sacrifice in the prem for his own vanity.

Today however (against world class talent) was not boring. We didn't spend huge chunks of the game under the cosh and we moved the ball quickly and with intent.
This is what caught my eye today as well.

Frank (and it sounds like Wells too) set up a beautiful press system that did not tire our legs within 30 minutes. The high press had a trigger and caused them so many problems but it was effective because the players had the legs to implement it when the trigger was pulled.

Our midfield 3 all put in MOTM performances and stifled any extended time in the low block.

Players and coaching staff deserve every praise they get.

Ah you're too kind!

I thought it was smart to have Romero press Haaland every time he touched the ball. He is a freak of nature but I don't think he is best with his back to goal and can actually be a bit wasteful. I know man marking is nothing revolutionary but I can't remember seeing a CB join in a press and make a tackle on the edge of the opposition's box (what led Haaland to foul Richie).
There are these details all across the pitch that I am very impressed by.

It seems like he’s really pushing into the identity we developed in the Europa run. Bunch of bulldogs like Cuti, VDV, Richy, Bentancur, Porro, Pape just running their hearts out for 90 minutes. Add in Paulinha and Kudus and we’re a really nasty bunch now. Not much flowing football but really hard to beat and bully the fook out of them.

The single hardest thing for a new coach is getting the buy in from the players , who all have allegiances and grumbles of some sort from the past coach , not happy with this or that .
He's got them all on the same page and wanting to follow the plan much quicker than I expected it to happen .

Frank started with 2 CBs against City at their ground (which was suprise for me), so hard to imagine we will see back 3 from 1st minute in more than just couple games whole season. Given that, Vuskovic loan makes more sense than this morning.

And yeah - tactical masterclass today.
Depends if you look at as 5 at the back or like Hoddle 3 at the back

3 at the back with Pedro and Spence pushed up into the midfield could work at home to break teams down

I’m very very impressed so far! We seem so much more measured and consistent in our approach! Allows us to maintain that press for more sustained periods and reset the positions when the play dictates.

I’d also like the add that the rotation he is showing is very good to see! Younger guys like bergval, grey etc getting big minutes last week and the older guard getting 90 odd today, hopefully allows us to stay fitter. He will need to be careful with sarr and kudus as they can’t continue this work rate when we get to playing 2 games a week. Hopefully we get the reinforcements we require
