Match Spurs v Brighton (Away) - Sat 20th September - KO: 3pm

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Looking at that training video it pretty much tells us the team doesn't it. That video aside from palhinha had all the players that are seen more as bench and rotation players right?

So xavi will be playing lw again, doh.

I would like to see us put our strongest team out for this given we can rotate heavily for Doncaster.

Left side is a bit of a problem. The trouble with the Spence / Xavi combo is they both like to come inside and therefore we lack width and consequent wide threat on the left so teams can double man Kudus on the right.

I think Xavi can only work on the left with Udogie at LB who will prefer to stay wide and cross with his left foot. If Spence plays, then logic for me is to play Odobert on LW who is our only touch line winger for the left and Xavi in the 10.

Udogie gives us a better balance but won’t cross the ball. I’ve seen him do it once where he crossed to the back post. 1 real old fashioned cross on 2 years😂😂
Djed is a funny player for me. He’s incredible in a 1 v 1 defensively but going forward he won’t open his legs and knock it by someone and go full pelt. He offers very little offensively but I believe he definitely could . He wants to get into wrestling matches with opponents rather than pass it and move. He kills his own space but going into xavi’s space then passes it to him which congests the game.
I really like Spence but he probably frustrates me the most of all our players because he makes wrong decisions on the ball going forward. He has so much potential to be unplayable if he gets coached right.

Interesting analysis.

The reason you haven’t seen Udogie cross the ball is because under Ange system he was inverted. Ange made LW stay wide to cross the ball, which negated Son’s strengths.

Spence does not have much of a left foot so he won’t get much white stuff on his boots.

Vic
Porro - Romero - VDV - Spence
Palhinha
Bergvall - Sarr
Kudus - Richy - Xavi
Based on Frank's comments I'd be surprised to see anything other than the above.
He will wait until Doncaster to start Udogie and Muani.

Nah, not this early into a new manager's reign. A string of losses is when concerns should register.

Mate we are playing Brighton, doesn't matter how good they maybe are or the fact we have a new manager, we are a far bigger club than them with far better resources...we totally dwarf their wage budget, no way should be brushing off a loss like that.

Yes we should be beating the likes of Brighton, I agree. But we're playing away, and just a couple of weeks ago we lost to Bournemouth at home. Last season we lost to teams such as Wolves, Ipswich, and Leicester.

Also last season we finished 17th, as nobody on this forum gets tired of pointing out. In our last outing we struggled to beat an average Villareal team at home. We are currently not a very good team.

Hopefully Tomas Frank can rectify that, and I think the signs so far indicate that he might, but there are bound to be bumps in the road along the way.

As long as the overall direction of progress is upwards, the odd loss to some of the Premier League also rans is mostly acceptable.

Don't think Spence totally trusts his left peg to stick a decent cross in... I could be wrong but him at left bac is a Tottenham thing don't think he's played extensively there b4... Think if he was on the rhs .. he'd be more adventurous with his attacking and crossing.

Yeah but then we thought that last season for Tamworth and look at what happened

I wonder if it's because he is so often played on the left, not so comfortable, despite him doing a good job. I mean he is comfortable defending but for attacking not as much.

I love this goal he assisted, but he doesn't really do this so much on the left side. I can't recall him doing that much of this when played on the right but Porro is hardly ever rested. It shows what you say though he could be unplayable with more coaching. Already so good in defending but able to attack like that often would be formidable.
