Brentford did not play good attacking football - why is it a surprise we are not with him in change?

Now , he might change, but so far the football as it was under Ange has been pony. We are more solid defensively.
So as things we are heading for 4- 10th with a definite ceiling . No brave new world

Brentford played different every year. Definitely good attacking football last year. It’s an evolution. Solid defensively and set pieces early to consolidate themselves in the league. And Frank has shown he can manage successful teams in a variety of different styles. Which is good because there’s a lot of ways to win a match. This isn’t like Ange or Conte where it was one thing and when it started to fizzle that was it. We are in a solid position in the table. We finished 17th last year. Every week is a new week.

My issue is in both home games once we went conceded we had absolutely nothing. He’s done nothing to change the dynamic. Formation has stayed the same, just like for like changes basically.

Clearly, there are some agendas at play.

No amount of venom spat at Frank is going to bring Fatso back.

The clueless cunt is currently gracing Forest with a new record - becoming the first Nottingham Forest manager since Harry Hallam in 1897 to not win any of his first five games in charge.

Aren't they lucky.

The best Frank ever finished in the PL with Brentford was 9th. That was with Mbuemo having a freak season that he will probably never replicate.

When you say that "Frank has shown he can manage successful teams in a variety of different styles"

When??
What successful teams??

The best Glasner's finished is 10th.

And you still haven't answered this:

How long did it take Glasner to get Palace playing the way they are?

*and Mbeumo didn't have a "freak of a season", just like Wissa didn't last season ending up 6th highest scorer in the league having been converted to 9.

They were both developed and improved by Frank and he trained that team to bring about those end results.

He came in near the end of the 2024 season. So he's had about one and a half seasons with them.
Right.

And Frank's been here just 3 months.

With a team that finished 17th and conceded 65 goals last season.

There's a lot of work to do.

Old, horrible, deep rooted habits to purge and new principles, tactics and patterns of play to instil.

And he hasn't even had a summer window, yet, having assessed the players and figured out who he needs to replace and upgrade on to begin to properly shape the team in his image.

I think some are being grossly uneven in their evaluation of this man -- after such a short period, especially -- and are measuring him with wonky instruments.

The way some are going on you'd think we were currently 16th....

Needs to play people in their natural/best positions. I think that should be obvious now.

I think he also must realize that he won’t be able to improve any of our strikers and may be searching for a way to paper over it

Honestly you need to stop hallucinating that every critique on Frank is a praise to Ange and a desire to revive him back here. Almost everyone is calling spade a spade and pointing out facts where Frank was falling short in certain areas and yet about every two posts of yours you couldn't stop 'fat cunt' here and 'fatso' there.

Seriously you need to let it go. There is no fucking agenda, only you yourself getting consumed by some weird shit vendetta.

Of course we will. We've added 3/4 first team players for a start. And we will probably end up with a better XGA than we did last season, for various reasons, but anyone saying Frank has made us "more solid" based on these first 6 games is talking out of their fucking arses. We aren't. Anyone saying we've sacrificed attacking productivity for defensive solidity is also talking bollocks. So far we have sacrificed a shit ton of offensive production (with better options) for worse defensive output. We've just been fucking lucky.

Maybe if it starts to click that will all reverse - but it's not like there was a bunch of evidence at Brentford to suggest this is a sure thing. Brentford were shit XG and even shitter XGA last season. I really don't know where this notion comes from that Frank's a defensive genius. Brentford's XGA was only 8 better than ours last year - 14th best in the PL.
What better attacking options? We've lost 90 g/a so far from last season with no Son, Maddison, Solanke or Kulusevski. Kolo Muani hasnt been fit either. So its Kudus, Simmons and Richarlison trying to cover that lot. I think the player with the most goals for us that we have available in the entire squad currently is Johnson with 25. Richarlison has 23 over 3 seasons. With everyone fit we have better attacking options but currently not even close to last season, which was also shit.

I think some on here don’t fully recognise the challenges in our attack.

Our proven players from last year in Solanke, Son, Maddison and Kulusevski are all unavailable. It’s a complete new attack where the only two “creative” options are a 19 year old and a 22 year old new to the PL. We only have one fit striker of medium quality and no proper LW option.

It will obviously take time to get them playing well together and we need to be patient. Frank has clearly focused on embedding defensive organisation first which is absolutely right when you lose 22 league games, but he’s said his focus now is on developing the attack so I have no doubt he will improve that. His Brentford team scored a lot of goals so I don’t think this will be a long-term issue for us.

Fucking hell, finding myself in absolute full agreement with thinktank. People expectations after a few games when we are sitting in 3rd place are mind blowing.

Bournemouth aside at least we're not being made to look like a League 1 outfit this season after the utter shite we were served in the league last season.

What we're missing is that one superstar to get us off our seats and make the difference, I'm generally not seeing that across the league to be fair.

We're not Brentford and I dont want us to be...

Thinking about it this morning, I think Frank is still obviously making a strong start even if that second half was wank.

IMO he has these challenges to solve and in this order.

1. Midfield balance!
He seems to want physicality above everything in CM but he’s sacrificing too much creativity. It cost against an intelligent press vs Bournemouth and it cost us against a different tactic yesterday.

2. LW
Johnson and Spence didn’t work against Bournemouth and even tho Johnson is a reliable source of goals that we need up front, if he wants that physicality in MF, he can’t play Johnson LW because that gives us even less creativity. The issue is that Xavi isn’t really at his best out there either.

3. Adapting to playing against a physical team in a back 5.
Wolves solved him a bit yesterday. Bournemouth caused us issues but they are unique in the PL. A lot more teams have the physicality to come to our place and do what Wolves did second half. If he’s still struggling to solve #1&2, we can expect it to work against us.

IMO it’s pretty clear that JP and RB aren’t going to work together as the main spine of your team and Bergvall isn’t a creative 10. I also think he’s going to have to trust Xavi in the 10, then invest in either Odobert or Tel on the LW for a few games in a row.
