Match Spurs v Bodo/Glimt (A) - Champions League - Tues 30th Sept - KO: 8pm

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I will preface this by saying I haven’t seen a replay of the game.
Did TF get his selections wrong? Why did we start the game with no Kudus or Xavi in the lineup? If we were going with a more defensive mindset then why no Paulinho? I just don’t understand Frank’s thinking in his starting 11.

For those of you who’ve watched the game can I ask you, did we lack creativity in the first half?
Another question I have is does Brennan Johnson suit Frank’s set up? I think we can agree that he is fairly limited in his skill set. He seemed to suit Ange’s gunho style of play better than Frank’s more cautious approach.

I’m not happy with the result. This is a game we should’ve won, despite the conditions etc. So did TF’s team selection let us down? Or was it the players? Or were BG a better side than the one we beat last year? Or maybe a bit of all of the above?

I’m not having a go at him or any of the team, merely posing the question/s. As I said I’m yet to watch the game.
The whole thing was a bore, we have no attacking threat, decent defensively, Owen bailed us out once again

The game was really ninety odd minutes of our DM's nd defenders waving the opposition through.

We could easily have been four or five goals down, and to this end Frank has to take responsibility. Why he decided not to train on the pitch for fear of our tactics being revealed is beyond me.

We didn't have any tactics, system, or enthusiasm for this game.

Early days, but I’m beginning to think Frank is almost the opposite of Ange. His only attacking plan seems to be counter attacking from the back. I’d like to see us on the front foot from the getgo against inferior teams.
I don't believe that he has got one player in that he wanted. Kudus maybe but I think he chose Gibbs-White and Mbueno and got neither.
Let him pick some players and then judge.

I resisted the temptation to post during, or immediately after, the game. I was thoroughly depressed watching it all unfold.

Having slept on it, and because I'm naturally an optimist, there were some crumbs of comfort for me.

We showed character and resilience to come back from two nil to snatch an undeserved draw.

I think Bodo will pose problems for other teams on their home patch. When we beat them there in May, they were, to all intents and purposes, in their preseason. They were deep in their season last night and, consequently, much better than last time.

Frank is still in the early days of his tenure. I do worry that he is ultra conservative and we will not be as ambitious as we should be under him. Having said that, he needs to be given time to mould the team to his way of playing. That time should include a number of transfer windows to put together his preferred squad. The days of firing a manager in their first two seasons needs to be consigned to the bin of history.

I couldn’t see the game and no highlights but I did hear that they were watering a plastic pitch??
Yep. It was also like a badly fitted carpet in places. At one point the commentator said that it had hit a roll and bounced away from Spence out of
Play. In real time it looked like shit control (& it may have been the commentator being kind) but those pitches are abysmal

There was one point where I saw one of their players kick the ball and water shot up in the air. I was surprised tbh, but hadn't thought that maybe that was hindering our passing weight. There were a few passes our players made that were absolute larrupped, so wondering if they never quite found the sweet spot.
i don't want to give the lads too much of an excuse but i thought there was a big difference between us and them as far as dealing with the pitch. to me it looked like we struggled and they thrived as the bounces got away from us they seemed to use the quickness to their advantage. said it during the match, this will be a tough trip for everyone who visits

No I was in the hospital visiting my brother who has blood cancer.
But thanks for replying back like a cunt , instead of a legit answer like the other 5 who replied.
helpful
Just got home, on paper doesn't seem like a bad result?

Ange just went all in on the Europa so we had the energy and concentration to beat teams like this and Frankfurt .

How did we actually play?
Well thanks for not mentioning where you'd got back from!

How the hell was I supposed to know?
Hence the jokey reply about just getting home from a game in Norway!! OBVIOUSLY you weren't in Norway... Hence the jovial reply.

Believe me, if you'd have said "I've just got home from the hospital after visiting my Brother, who has blood Cancer" I most certainly wouldn't have made light of it...is have wished him well, and you strength to deal with that awful disease.

but, with respect, seeing as you didn't, you coulda been out anywhere... at a works do, or at the Cinema! You said you'd just got home.... It's not a logical jump to assume it was from somewhere bad, especially if you're asking nonchalantly about the football as you get in!

I'm not saying you need to tell everyone everything about your Family every post... but why only get upset when someone replies something light hearted?

Honestly, "how we did last night" should be the last thing on your mind right now.

We drew. We were 2-0 down, but came back to draw... We played shit and didn't deserve it, though some think we didn't play that badly.... How's that? Doesn't change much knowing or not knowing I guess.

I wish your Brother well, I really do.

But I wish you'd mentioned it first!

It’s perhaps more of an excuse than we think whilst watching the shitshow live.
I know we have artificial pitches at the training ground but I’m sure they’re a bit better quality than a few roll ends knitted together from the local garden centre.
As you say, there won’t be many teams fancying a trip into the arctic circle to play on that surface so a draw may be a very valuable result

In sweden almost every team plays on plastic pitch and its always watered. Never been to a game when its not watered.

The reasons are:
  • Ball speed and movement: A watered synthetic surface makes the ball roll faster and more predictably, which improves the quality of play.
  • Player safety: It reduces friction burns and impact injuries from sliding tackles.
  • Surface longevity: Moistening the pitch can help with heat management, especially in sunny or warm conditions, since artificial grass can get very hot.
