The whole point of a double pivot featuring two highly risk averse players is to offer the defensive line and the keeper an additional layer of protection against all kinds of actions inside our own third. Yet in all of their goals did Woolwich players have all the time in the world in around the edge of the box.
Frank has been trying to accommodate him and Palhinha's lack of mobility simply by lowering the defensive line so that they would be closer to our own goal, at the expense of dragging the whole team back of course. The worth of the trade-off would be debatable if it was actually helping these two to do their job, but it doesn't.
They cannot even protect a flat back 5 as we saw today. What's the point of having them out there then?

The insult is unnecessary, but I thought at the time the new contract should be for a player likeky to be a solid squad member and not a regular starter.
He would not have got near our first team 5, or 6 years ago, and wouldn't get into that lot's squad, let alone their first 11.

Absolutely woeful. At fault for 2 goals, and there was a period for about 20 minutes that he didn’t even touch the ball. Everyone was dreadful, but he was the shit of the shit.

He’s very good against the likes of Copenhagen and Bodo glimt at home if he’s not being pressed and the game is being played at 1mph. As soon as any team presses him or has any intensity , he is useless.
