I take issue with how casually people assume that most squads are inferior than ours. I think this is mostly fan bias.

Yes we have Romero and VDV who generally perform to a very high level but outside of that what do we really have?

Is Danso any better than Tarkowski?
Is Bergvall better than Kiernan Dewsbury Hall?
Could Odobert do what Harry Wilson did?
Richarlison is no better than Jimenez

We then have the likes of Muani and Xavi who come in with a reputation because they have performed well in pub leagues but we see this doesn't always translate.

When you actually go man for man across a squad I reckon we have clearly better players than maybe 4 -5 teams MAXIMUM (Leeds, Burnley, West Ham, Wolves) and we have 10 points from 12 against that lot.

Forest, Fulham, Sunderland, Everton I'd say we are about par with now noting that some of these teams have much better specific areas (i.e. Forest midfield, Everton attack).
Palace, United, Newcastle, Bournemouth, maybe Brentford have better 11's.

And then obviously we are miles away from the rest.

Media narrative plays a big part and players naturally are assumed to be of a higher level when they play for a club like Spurs. If we are real about it, the vast majority of our squad would not look out of place at Everton or Forest. Odobert is still a Burnley level player for example.

I agree with you, which is why the manager is so important. They maximise the limited potential of many players in their squads.

Villa and Newcastle have much better CMs for example. McGinn would basically be our best player.

Alex Scott at Bournemouth walks into our midfield.

Players like Porro, Udogie, Spence, Bentancur, Johnson, Tel, Odobert, Richarlison, they are nowhere near as good as fans think they are. It's complete bias.

But many people won't hear it. Odobert is a poor championship level winger. Gray has potential but is championship level, he just is. We have so many players that just aren't at the level we need. Porro is a garbage RB. He just is. Never a PL quality RB in a million years.

But in saying that, Frank is still failing miserably.

Funny thing is hardly anybody on here wanted him until it became apparent that it was him we were getting.
Then everyone started pretending he was some master tactician and we'd pulled off some kind of coup.
I still can't understand what the club was thinking in appointing this guy so soon after the Nuno debacle. It's beyond ludicrous.
It's a farce.
Probably down to Lange wanting to have someone that was easy to work with,. Probably more about how comfortable his working day would be rather than what was right for the team. That’s just a guess though.

Spot on, the quality of our squad has gradually been chipped away at over the past 5/6 years to the husk you see now.

In the peak Poch years, Lloris, Walker, Toby, Vertonghen, Dembele, Eriksen, Alli, Son & Kane were all a level above near enough every player in their position in the league, with a few exceptions at maybe City, Chelsea & Liverpool. Even Wanyama & Rose were better than most in their position.

We had such a strong starting XI, they would’ve given anyone a game, we just lacked the depth when injuries, suspensions and dips in form hit. If we had just gotten Mane and Grealish when we had the opportunity, I reckon our trophy cabinet would be a bit fuller.

Now, I don’t think we have a single player who’s in the top 2/3 in their position. We concede too many stupid goals for you to even make the argument for Romero and VDV.

It’s sick how far our squad has fallen.

Yes you can but the simple fact is Conte didn't do it, Mourinho didn't do it, Poch didn't do it, AVB didn't do it and Redknapp didn't do it.

All of those managers had far better squads than the dross we had last season (and this season).

So, on balance, I'm very very happy Ange Postecoglou binned off the league from March onwards to give us the best chance at winning our first European Trophy in 40 years. Very glad.

Even more glad now he's gone and things haven't miraculously got better because we still haven't signed any footballers who can pass the fucking thing. :D
Not sure how anyone can be glad at the current situation. Weird.

Bingo, pounds do not guarantee quality. Clearly

Re Alex Scott ; she’ currently filming with I’m a Celeb out in Oz so not for now on the South coast of England.

But I wouldn’t disagree ; she’d be an improvement on a lot of our players.

Funny how we took Brentford’s manager and staff, they replace the whole lot and they’re the same mid table club as they were last year.

We have the Danish Graham Potter. It’s like the people in charge just scour the internet reading Twitter shitposts to scratch together their shortlist.
I do think there is an element of well organised back room at clubs like Brentford and Brighton where they could parachute anybody into the hot seat and they’d get a tune, as the whole club is pulling in the same direction.

Then there’s our outfit………
