Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Modric, Berbatov, Bale in varying degrees took time to show their class on a consistent basis. I think we can offer Simons muchore time tbh, especially when the manager hasn't a clue how to use him and isn't brave enough to build an attack around him

Berbatov was quality from the get go.

I was at his first game.

A pre season friendly away at Birmingham City.

He scored a beauty and was top notch in everything else he did.

Won’t be anywhere near that. Belaba hasn’t had the best season, his prime value was last season, can’t justify a massive price with lower performance. Anderson or Wharton would be closer to that value right now.
The usual Brighton tactic of £100m.

“We’d be interested in selling, as we’ve another on the list to replace him, but it’ll cost you”.

Why is the only alternative the 'best player' haven't you heard of any middle ground?

Just because you exclusively target young, doesn't mean the alternative is world class players, what are we doing here? 😵‍💫

..........That's what the purchases of Maddison, Rich, Solanke, Vicario, Porro, Romero, Kudus, Danso, Biss, Bentancur (+ JP & RKM) represent..... Half of which were thought to be suitably EPL-proven too!

We just have an innate talent for not getting the expected best out of players of all profiles. :wall:

Surely you would rather target younger players who have the potential to take the leap to top class, than sign prime players who will never make it? That’s basically what we did with Solanke. Most of our best ever players in the last 20 years were signed young, in the 18-23 bracket.

Xavi, Berg, Udog, Sarr, Gray then?

Expecting to build a proper squad whilst only shopping on one shelf is a flawed strategy.

It has worked before when we are deep in the shit ... Ossie, Ginola, Klinsmann.

The most recent of those was 28 years ago...... The football landscape (and trf market) has completely changed since then.

No players of that profile are joining a Spurs in the doldrums in January.... And possibly even the summer too; if we don't shape up before then.

He's the one...... Lad's beefy AND can play.

Put a hit out on the Greek and get it done.

Talk of Wharton and Anderson is fantasy lads. We will never spend 100m to buy a player. We couldn't sign a player from Forest that they wanted to keep even when he had a release clause that we matched. We will never pay the wages that a 100m player will demand.
We are a shit show on and off the pitch and top players will serve us because what can we offer that proper clubs dont?!?
If people are pinning their hopes on signings at that level then every window is going to be a massive disappointment

It's all well and good going after these young talented players, but my biggest concern with the squad at the moment is their mindset rather than their ability.

I don't see anyone in that squad who's got the experience of playing at the very top level of domestic football? Every player we've bought in recent years has been a good player in a smaller side (Maddison, Solanke, Odobert, Kudus etc) but all of these players know more about relegation battles then winning titles.

Maybe we bring in 1/2 players with the experience we need to help guide the younger players? I'd happily take a punt on Andy Robertson at LB in Jan, he's playing 2nd fiddle to Kerkez and he's the exact character needed in the squad. I'd also put him ahead of Udogie and Spence at LB at the moment.
