We have more wriggle room to pay money upfront. Villa would have needed to write it off over 5 years. Not sure if that's the case here but imagine Atletico's preference would be to sell to us and get more upfront.

Gallagher is a poorer version of Morgan Gibbs White so atleast we are being consistent in our transfer strategy and he's always a player we've wanted. I can't see how he works in a double pivot with Palhinha though. They are too similar and neither really like getting on the ball in tight spaces. He'd have worked far better beside Bentancur.
