Manager The Sack Race

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

They've always been a club run by the players. But right now they have the wrong type of players in charge. Valverde aside because he seems to have his head screwed on straight.

Long gone are the days of Ramos, Ronaldo, Kroos and Modric. All various stages of diva, but all consumate professionals that set the tone for the rest of the team.
While this may well be the case, the real conflict appears to have been between Xabi and the "powers upstairs" - i.e. Florentino and the (seemingly many) others functioning as sporting directors and apparent picking the team over XA's wishes.

This according to a couple of RM fans who follow such things closely and hinted at in the Madrid-based sports media.

It' seems to be getting worse as well, whether the specific reference to Alonso is accurate or not.

Filth club, United to an extent.

Football has got too big, amd its owners too vested and too much like power mongers who think they know best.

And yet we have arguably the poorest quality across Europe in years.

They probably can’t do a Barca and dump the Galactico approach for a team ethic either. Their fan base and owners wouldn’t allow it.
Oh 100%. That's impossible. They are too wedded to it at this point.

Hell, bringing in Alonso was meant to mean a step away from the Galactico/payer power era. A authorative club legend as manager that controlled the first team. Yet Perez reverted at the first sign of pressure from the players.

I read something this morning about there being conflict between Perez and Xabi over the fitness coach position. Perez wanted his guy and Xabi his.

Never the less, a mess.

What a bunch of bums. Like a team of Ndombele’s with a little bit extra effort. I hope Barca destroy them this season in everything.

And he actually took a stand with vini and mbappe thats a manager with balls who dojt stroke egos a manager who has all the experience of top level playing career prior. I know its unlikely i just hope we can at least enquire and see because he fits our profile 44 years of age same age nearly as when poch joined us hes won the bundesliga with basically the aston villa comparison with leverkusen undefeated too might add and this was a bayern team who just got kane too.

Him or poch for me

It had started with the Club World Cup in the US, his first big decision to accept the demand to take over sooner than he wanted,

Graun article.

Surely there's a message here to managers. If it's not the right time for YOU, then pass on that occasion. The Real job will come up for grabs every year or 2. Sometimes more!

......Alonso is the 11th manager to last less than a year in two decades

Really dont know why these managers like Alonso and Poch go to these 'super clubs' . Managers that are more tactical and need buy in from young, hungry players are never going to get a bunch of multi millionaire egos on side. Thats why Ancelotti is so perfect for Real, picks the side and lets them get on with it.

In Poch's case, the clubs court their egos. We saw this a lot with Poch when United courted him. So really not that different from when they tap up players.

One of our Spanish friends can probably weigh in on how big shit stirrers that Cope are considered to be. But according to them Florentino Perez is looking to bring back Jose Mourinho to manage Real.

That would be absolute cinema. Jose trying to force Mbappe and Bellingham to defend like stupid cunts.
