Ex-Spurs Player Brennan Johnson

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Exactly - he is the classic little man in the big man little man set up of yester year.

Feeding off knockdowns and finishing calmly - we sold him but kept Odobert and Tel who do what?

Umm... to contribute far more goal and assist wise to start with.
Like you know... Odobert having far better output this season.

And additionally can run past players and pass it? :)

Is that the answer you were looking for maybe?

I’m not a football coach but you’d play Johnson as a striker lol. It maximises his strengths - finishing and impulsive shooting - and negates a lot of his weakness - that’s he’s fucking shit at everything else.

He’s fast and can score. He cannot create, pass or defend.

BJ would make an awful CF.

Put yourself in the place of a CB.... Easiest day at work all season.

This touches on my issue with Xavi - technically a lovely player but the difference between his technical ability and effectiveness in an actual game is vast - he just doesn’t change games and it’s mostly down to him having the athleticism of a depressed sloth.

He is all fart and no poo

Bro you think - how was BJ our top scorer? No pens, no free kicks.

Instead, he had the nose for a goal and the finishing ability to take those chances. This is what I’m saying though - the modern striker seemingly has to be good at everything bar actually scoring - it’s bizarre. It’s why you have Jokeres, Sesko, Solanke and Richy going for big money whilst posting ridiculously shit stats - these lads would have been nicknamed the judge back in the 90’s for riding the bench so much

This is so flawed.

Sesko & Gykores were signed off of their goal-scoring records (even Solanke had just scored 21)..........

If the former 2 are stuggling it's because of of the speed, the lack of space, the physical and athletic trappings of the EPL......... The same trappings that would render BJ utterly useless as a CF.

Ironically, you already precede your logic with a complaint about Xavi also not being able to counter those same physical/athletic issues, but expect them not to hinder BJ.

It's absolutely hideous, couple that with how rubbish we are and it's difficult to muster any interest at all in modern football.

I don't watch anything outside of Spurs games anymore, and even that has become less and less of a certainty as I no longer bother to deconflict activities, if something else is happening at the same time I'll probably just do the something else, and that includes the weekly shop.

My 6 year old was showing some interest in watching with me earlier in the season, he had the sense to fuck it off after the Wolves game though, summing us up as "playing like lazy dicks".

Anyway, I digress, Woolwich storming to the title this year (with their insurmountable 4 point lead) comes from fielding 4 centebacks across the backline every week, shielded by 2 defensive midfielders. They've reached the point that they might steady eddie their way to a title in a year that everyone else is having a gap year, because every single player in their squad has been purchased for ~£40m minimum and all they can think to do for the expense is be solid and spam set-pieces.

Absolutely disgusting viewing.
I often watch the old firm match, I don't have a dog in the fight but it's far more fun than Premier League matches most of the time. One I watched a few months back, Chelsea and Woolwich were on afterwards, it was so much slower and boring. Not that I usually watch them but I was out for a few beers and it's the sequence of matches they put on the tv.

Luckilly he is not our problem anymore.

Tbf still expect him to score goal or two here and there, but for a player who plays basically with no heart - Palace is terrible place to be at the moment.

I thought he might actually do a bit better in Palace's system but apparently he's been a complete non-entity so far.

Heard a Palace fan describe him as a ghost on the pitch. You see his name on the team-sheet but then he completely disappears as soon as the whistle blows.

Pretty much sums up why we sold him, tbh.
