So who do we think Vinai and the board are going to blame for getting relegated in their end of season letter? We all know it won't be themselves.

If we go down, the club is on fire, and none of us should do anything to step in while the current ownership is self-immolating under the dumpster fire of their own making. Our only hope is they sell up and turn over the club to a party actually interested to compete in a manner consistent with history and brand-recognition of the Spurs club worldwide.

Do you really think players like Xavi, Bergval and Solanke will stick around? They’re full internationals. We’ll get £30m bids for them and accept it.

This club will always find a way to reach a new low.

Then we will be playing with even more fire than the Jan window. To do that we would risk our chance of coming back up which would long term be worse financially. The players are under contract, if another club doesn’t offer their full amount they won’t go. There are players far higher on the list like VDV and Romero who will make our sales, you can’t fire sale your way back up.

Much better to stay calm and be relegated than panic and survive

Vicario, Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie, Bentancur, Sarr, Bergval, Kudus, Spence, Solanke, Kulu and Xavi will all go.

Bissouma and Davies out of contract. Muani and Palhinha return to their parent club.

Maddison might stick around due to injury, but wouldn’t be shocked if he went.

Leaves us with Kinsky, Danso, Dragusin, Souza, Gray, Odebert, Tel. Then Mikey Moore, Lankshear, Vuskovic, Scarlett, Dorrington, Barnett-Williams and Donley.
Unless we take a massive bath on Kudus, he'll be there next season. The next step for him is Saudi. I think he'll still be there, and he'll be good in the Championship, and should sell if we're straight back up. Gallagher will still be there unless we loan him out and cover half his salary. No one is paying money for him and he's not going to want to take a bigger reduction than the 50% (if that even applies to him, 50/50 based on Vinai and Lange).

You're being extremely optimistic about Vuskovic too. He's not going to come here and play in the championship, just not real life.

If we did that it would be reckless and hurt us more financially as we would be risking staying in the championship long term.

I can see Romero and co going off but the club if it has any sense would look to keep Xavi, Bergvall, Solanke and the like to have a core of decent quality to get us back up.
Xavi is part of the reason we’re going down, he physically cannot cope with the Prem - he will be absolutely man handled in the Champ.

Whether we stay up or go down, he has to be the first out of the door, horribly limited (athletically) player

Yeah most of these "Champ team lineups" seem to think we're gonna literally sell almost every single first-teamer. Our squad is actually pretty massive - we're not gonna sell/release like 17 players.

Bigger teams like West Ham and Newcastle that went down tended to keep a core of key, PL-standard players (Nolan, Guiterrez, Coloccini, etc). And unlike teams like Villa, Leeds and Leicester we're not a financial mess and wont be forced into a fire-sale of our entire squad. It would be a massive financial blow but not existential.

My guess is we'd sell high wage earners like Romero, VdV, Kudus, Xavi (or maybe a one-season loan to cover wages for Xavi for instance). Plus a few internationals with resale value like Rich, Dragusin, Vicario, Tel, Bentancur, Porro etc. Although expect 1 or 2 of the above to end up staying if/when clubs aren't willing to pay the asking price. Relegated clubs usually end up with a couple surprise players that get stuck.

Think we'd keep something like Gallagher, Solanke, Bergvall, Danso, Maddison, Gray, Sarr, Spence, Souza, Odobert and probably Kulusevski given he's seemingly perma-crocked. Bring back a few of the youngsters from loan (Moore, Vuskovic, Lankshear, etc). Basically a core of English players and talented youngsters.

Of the players still at the club we could put out something like:

Kinsky
Spence Danso Vuskovic Souza
Gallagher Bergvall
Kulu Maddison Moore
Solanke

With players like Odobert, Sarr, Gray, Takai, Lankshear, Devine, Phillips, Donley as bench options. Plus a few Champ-level signings in key areas (wings, goalkeeper, CM, full-back).

Under the right manager and without a million injuries that squad should be very strong in the Championship, but would be highly dependent on a decent manager fixing our mentality and uniting the group.

He is not a winger. He has looked fine when being played as a 10 but our lack of wingers means he gets thrown out wide and he doesn’t have the ability for that. That is on us not having wingers.

West Ham were 13 points behind us 7 weeks ago before we played them and now it’s 1 point - every player in our squad would back themselves to get in West Ham’s first 11 - yet can’t turn up for us and get the 3 wins we need.

Absolute must win tomorrow - need Richy firing into them, need a non cunt ref and we need the defence to not shit the bed

If the club did an unnecessary fire sale to make profit the would rue the day when we get stuck for 3-4 years in the championship. Would be very counter productive. You need to keep a base squad that is significantly better than everyone else both in quality and depth.

Only way it would work I think is Poch building a side around Vuskovic, Moore, Souza with seniors like Solanke and Maddison to provide the experience. If that happened we would come back up and additionally would have a Poch team ready to go in the prem. it would be hard losing Romero, VDV, Porro and Udogie and the like but that should provide the cut in wages and new money to rebuild.

My optimism that we stay up will remain until tomorrow’s result. If we win. I’ll still be very optimistic about our chances.

But we need to take all 3 points tomorrow. If not, I’ll be surprised if we stay up.

Enormous game.
