He has to go as we finished 17th I agree with that , I’m not having the issues we have since he left are because we finished 17th though , if that was the case surely United who won fuck all would be in the same fate as us now?
You could also argue that by being the team that broke the trophy draught we were in a prime position to kick on , we were told anyone would get us back to the top now it’s “Ange is to blame”
It’s getting fucking tedious reading about him on every thread , the reason we are fighting relegation now is because Frank was worse than Ange and the squad has been criminally under invested for years , maybe invested is the wrong word as we spent money just on shite!
Seasons don’t happen in isolation. Teams that finish a season strongly often continue that into a new season. Likewise teams that are struggling at the bottom often continue that form into next season. This is pretty much a fact that anyone who has watched football for a decent amount of time can see. There’s loads of examples every year.
So yes what happened last season under Ange continued this season. Does that make him the only one responsible? No. Frank was a terrible choice as a replacement. I also agree the club has been in decline for a while. However this is historically shit. A bad season for us used to be finishing 8th and losing a semi final.
We have never seen it this bad, and it all started under Ange. He was the one unique person who oversaw the catalyst for this relegation form. Levy had been chairman for 25 years. We’d never been this bad in all his time.
What happened is under Ange, his dumb open tactics led to us losing league games constantly. This destroyed the confidence of the group and made losing a habit and it’s a habit that we have been unable to break since.
So yes Frank failed to improve things. Tudor also. But it all started under Ange, and sorry but if I watch my team plunge to new levels of shitness, historically bad, unlike anything I’ve seen for decades, I am for sure going to hold the manager who oversaw that decline most responsible, and that was Ange.
No other manager, not Jol, AVB, Poch, Conte, Jose took us to relegation form and 17th place. Ange did. That we’ve continued to be shit after he’s gone does not make Ange any less responsible for this mess. Momentum, both positive and negative, is a thing in football.
Now the club have made the situation worse with hiring Frank who was out of his depth and the wrong fit, and keeping him far too long, and now hiring Tudor who doesn’t even play the correct formation, and is gruff and basically the wrong fit for what we need.
The club need to replace him with an arm around the shoulder type to lift the morale and confidence of the group before it’s too late
