Player Xavi Simons

Cant think of a more dissapointing signing in terms of expectation when signed to actual reality.
Come on now

Son was lamented as a marketing buy. Then he found his feet and grew season on season until finally winning a golden boot.

Simons is still young. Has the ability to be great, just needs to find his rhythm.

Son was a funny one. I remember the "Grosser and Son" ITK months before on SC, and I think fans with footballing knowledge were quietly excited by it, and he seemed like a proper Mitchell pick. If it was supposed to be a secret it was clearly obvious, but Poch didn't seem to think much of him at all and went as far as saying he would leave after 1 season if he wanted to go.

In some ways it's hard to really judge a lot of our players in the last 2 seasons because they haven't had the benefit of playing in one of our great sides, but yet I think we've seen what they're really made of this season.

In that, I see Xavi Simons as a bit of a Taraabt - clearly has talent, but in practice he just doesn't look like a top 6 player. Relies on being flashy but has nothing to show for it

I'm not asking him to be the creative burden, I'm asking him to pick the right passes, track back, put in some effort and run, the very basics.

It's so weird people making excuses for him, he's done fuck all this season even if the team has been largely shit.

His goal should be becoming like Vitinha, but I wonder if he has the drive to get there physically, as well as the drive to refine his play so much (decision-making, chance-creation, long shooting).

I don't mind him coming off the bench right now though as I just don't think he is there physically. Right now he is a bit too weak to be starting for us regularly. I'm happier with Tel or Richy starting at LW for now.

Biggest concern about Simon's is his lack of enthusiasm to track back and do the dirty work required, we are in a battle now, we need fighters, not sure he cuts the mustard where this is concerned. He has obviously lost confidence as well, badly needs a goal or a major goal contribution.

I worry that he secretly has little faith in the team around him relative to our opposition, and so internally takes a defeatist approach, being dismayed by his situation. There are times he is energized and up for it though, but it's not quite been often enough. I don't think he's had the mentality to quite handle the insane pressure of being at our club. Hopefully he can grow into it, but it remains to be seen.

He's been very bad, bar the odd game here & there.

Was awful yesterday, didn't create anything. Worse, he couldn't even do the basics right.

Poor attitude too.

If he leaves in the summer, I don't think I'll miss him.
