The "he's not Harry Kane" line is another irritating straw man. They don't have to be one of the 5 best players to ever play for the club to help the team out. If you go back 6 years Troy Parrott must still have been in the Academy. You mean there was no time in the last 3 years when he couldn't have played first team minutes if we had handled him properly? How is it a straw man? I responded to someone who said we shouldn't buy anymore players and only play players that have come through ffs. Most of our youth players play at that level when they leave. Not all of them are Harry Kane's.
We don't have the level of players coming through our academy that other clubs do. Name players that have slipped through the cracks in the last 5/6 years.
5 years ago must have been about the time Donley, Devine and Scarlett were getting games in the U21s as 16/17 year olds. The next year or the year after would have been when Mikey Moore and Lankshear started playing up a group with the U21s. All 5 of those have the ability to play for the first team, maybe they might still have a chance.
Would I rather watch them than watch Simons get rag dolled by average Premier League midfielders ... yes I would.
