I asked this question a few times and was met with people telling me it's because we wanted Poch in the summer and he wouldn't have come on an interim basis??
Fact is, we didn't go all out for him 7 games ago and probably still didn't find our position to be desperate enough. Fast forward 7 games and they've panicked.

And I have to say... I hate that pathetic walking sack of shit that goes by name Lange so much that it also kind of drags down the stocks of de Zerbi too. Because if this incompetent imbecile rates him - I just feel it tarnishes the manager.
Cannot wait to see Lange sacked, the sooner, the better.
Hope he struck gold by pure chance with this appointment. That's our only hope, nothing to do with his (non-existing) skills or knowledge.
He's awful but in terms of continuity he has to remain a the club for the time being, until we get a successor who can take over his role, no point sacking him now if we don't have anyone coming in, believe it or not he is only one of the few football men left in the hierarchy which is crazy if you think about it so it's pointless leaving ourselves short in that case.
My read on it is they asked him 7 weeks ago and he was literally days out of the Marseille job and said "nah not now, I'll consider it in the summer". The Marseille job was insane - so much stress and drama - so I think he woudve demanded a break regardless.
Lange/Vinai didnt want to make a stupid bid for him and thought they could probably survive on the cheap with Paratici's interim pick.
Now that plan has failed they have to give De Zerbi every concession under the sun, a longer contract, bigger wages, more control to get him to agree. And no club worth their salt should be giving this much money and control to a volatile manager like Di Zerbi tbh.
If we'd survived under Tudor the club would've had at least some leverage in negotiating with De Zerbi - now theyre being completely bent over (same way they wouldve been trying to get him 7 weeks ago).
I think Lange and Vinai are useless goons that we need to fuck off sharpish but its not that hard to see how things panned out the way they did on this one imo.
