Come on mate. Stop talking rot.

Postecoglou protected our most vital assets in Romero and VDV throughout the last three months of the League campaign as he prioritised their participation in the Europa League.

We won it. So he was absolutely correct to make that decision once we'd secured PL safety. Just as Emery is prioritising the EL semi-finals. They are exactly the same decisions and it's just Deranged churlishness of you to suggest otherwise.

Embarrassing. Protected our assets lol - we had a fucking league season to compete in! If you can’t, as a manager, get past the teams we beat without throwing away the league and suffering record losses, you are fraudulent. Bodo Glimt, AZ and Frankfurt. Goodness me. With the resources he had!

Emery is prioritising ONE match. A semi final against one of the in form teams in the premier league. He didn’t do this against Bologna or in the last 16. Because he is a professional who didn’t need to chuck the baby out with the bath water.

Ange did, and it’s what got the cunt sacked, and then his inability to still win league games with a strong Forest side got him sacked again. Now he shovels food down his gob on TikTok for money.

Blimey - you're extra cranky this morning! It's a Bank Holiday mate. Chill!

You guys are so disingenuous with this comparison.

Nobody would’ve had an issue if Ange rotated in this scenario. A semi final against very strong premier league opposition and you’re one down after the first leg. Your team is pretty much guaranteed CL qualification anyway - you’ve had a strong, professional league season.

Ange didn’t do that. He wasn’t professional. He allowed the league season to spiral out of all control and he “rotated” against the likes of AZ Alkmaar and Bodo Glimt. Teams we have an enormous talent and resource advantage over.

Emery hasn’t done this throughout .. they didn’t rotate between Bologna and they consistently have won their league games throughout and remained PROFESSIONAL.

Their fans (rightly) will be fucking pissed off about what happened last night .. but they’ll view it as a one off, not Emery consistently being unable to balance competitions.
So please tell me which players Ange had to rotate?

This season, Villa currently has 2 injuries.
We currently have 10 injuries.
Last season we had 12 injuries.

Take off the blinkers and look at reality.

Villa have had more injuries at various times. They’ve also had huge injury issues in recent years including missing almost their entire defence in the CL year.

Spurs have a relatively big squad. RDZ is currently missing an entire creative midfield and has had 5 minutes to work with players yet is getting results.

It isn’t an excuse and never has been for losing 22 games in a season.

Ange was missing the midfield last year too.

And he couldn't call on the additional players we have now, like Souza, Palhinha, Simons, Kudus, Gallagher & RKM.

No, he could call on other players like Son, Kulu for a good part of the season, Maddison till the end of the season..Ange had players our coaches this season haven’t had.

I really don't understand this fixation with the number of losses we had last season. Even if we'd turned a couple of those losses into draws, we'd still have finished in the lower half of the table.

Glory-wise there's very little difference between finishing 11th or 17th, whereas winning a trophy is what football is all about. Ange understood that, hence he clearly prioritised winning a trophy over league position, last season.

You could argue he got the balance slightly wrong, and put too much emphasis on the cups, at the expense of league form, but who can blame him for being overly cautious?

This is Spurs after all, notorious at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. In the past, better managers than him have failed while trying to juggle both Premier League and Europe.

But if you can argue with the method, you certainly can't argue with the results:

We keep going over the same thing over and over:

We were in the midst of an injury crisis.

And Bodo Glimt have shown they cannot be taken lightly.

I'm fairly certain he still would have believed a mid-table finish was probable given-as you say-we have enormous talent and resources advantage over many EPL clubs..but if you haven't noticed like this season, those advantages meant very little.

You know... I think our fan reaction to our Europa win I think has made other Prem clubs take the Europa very seriously. I mean it was HUGE, and if Villa or Forest win it you can bet their fans will turn up for the bus parade and celebrate the win. Unlike some here..:ange-confused:

This is an auspicious anniversary week.

This game week last year we thrashed the MIGHTY Bodo Glimpt 5-1 on aggregate to make the Final of the Europa League for the first time in 40 years. 😍

In between those two stirring victories against the emerging GIANTS of Norwegian Football we played a drab 1-1 draw with West Ham in a meaningless league game.

The back 4 against West Ham in between the two cup ties was Spence, Davies, Danso and Gray.

The back 4 for the two CRUCIAL Cup ties was: Porro, Romero, Van De Ven and Udogie.

A MASTERCLASS of TEAM ROTATION. Thank you gaffer 😍

Who here didnt celebrate the win?

Well... I mean I guess it's how you define "celebrate" really. This was the only post you made on the Bilbao thread at the time BEFORE kick off:

Im a spurs fan since 1987. Ive had flashes of joy mixed with a lot of heartbreak. I wont love the club any less but please Tottenham give us a bit of fucking joy. The fans deserve it.
Come on you fucking Spurs💪

So it obviously meant something to you... But... you didn't post about the actual win in that thread after we, you know... won it.

Or in any other thread for months afterward. In fact I can't find any evidence of you celebrating the actual win at all.

Maybe you did it in private? Whatever. We all celebrate differently I guess but it does seem a little odd that having posted prior to the game how much it would mean to you - that you didn't subsequently post about how happy you were.

On the plus side you didn't bang on for months and months about how it's a shit competition that is meaningless so you're doing better than some of the usual suspects on here :D

The problem is, despite the miraculous cup win, Ange left the team teetering on the brink of collapse. We didn't just have injury problems, we were among the worst in set pieces in the league, and were extremely easy to undo defensively.

Ange understood that, hence he clearly prioritised winning a trophy over league position, last season.

This is pure projection on your part- there is absolutely no way you can know this for certain.

It's great you guys romanticize the cup so much. There is a reason we are here however, fighting for our lives against relegation, and Ange's under-performance as a manager was a massive part of that.

What the fuck are you talking about? You weirdo. You checked back through my messages for a year to see if i mentioned celebrating it???
Just because i didnt post online means i didnt celebrate a european win??.
Go outside and touch the grass will you. Very weird behaviour

The Doomers on here keep mentioning the number "22".
They never mention the other significant numbers which are "11" and "-1".

11 wins last season as opposed to 9 this season.
A GD of minus one last season as opposed to minus 9 this season.

And we won the cup with a shitload of first 11 players missing.

Take off the blinkers and look at reality.

While you are at it you mind comparing Anges numbers "11" and "-1" with basically every Tottenham manager before him?
You know, when we used to be a serious club in the Premier League.

(no, its not all his fault, but he was never a solution to anything either)

No need to get so defensive. The search function on this site is excellent so I took 30 seconds to check just how much you "celebrated" our first European Trophy on here. Turns out the answer was "not at all" so... just thought that was interesting given the question you had asked. 🤷‍♂️

Like I said you're already ahead of a not insignificant minority on here who spend all their time shitting on that trophy because they didn't like the Manager in charge. That's the kind of behaviour I find weird but YMMV

Well, he was the solution to one 17 year old and 40 year old problem respectively: :D

And given that in his first Presser our latest manager said this:

View: https://x.com/HaytersTV/status/2042717016834953358

I'd suggest De Zerbi thinks Postecoglou's style is the solution to the relegation fight brought upon us by the people who were wrong about pretty much everything 🤷‍♂️
