Player Richarlison

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Really don't like the idea of offering Rich a new deal. I like him as a bloke and he can score goals but he just feels symbolic of our mediocrity these past few years.

Giving someone like Rich a new deal just feels a bit like giving up to me tbh. We should be aspiring to better and he turns 29 next week. Last chance to get anything like a decent fee.
also as a back-up?
i would like to have him replaced by Lankshear in the future but Lankshear will probably need 1 or 2 season on loan
i would say keep him as back-up for 1 or 2 seasons and try to sell Solanke in the summer and get a new starting striker

Solanke has been poor this season, but I get the feeling his ankle is still not right. He was much better than Richy last season. If we could sell both I probably would, but that’s unlikely. Probably let Ricky go, try to sign an athletic striker that can really cause opposition problems and keep Solanke as an experienced rotation and linkup player.

i have it the other way around
but i do agree with you about if we can sell both that i would take it as well
question is who would be our back striker when we get a new starting striker in?
i wouldn't be mad if scarlett would be the backup but still would think scarlett would benefit more playing every game somewhere on a loan

We can’t have only one experienced striker going into the current version of the PL particularly if we’re gonna be playing high intensity pressing football.

Scarlett nowhere near good enough. Can’t get a start at Hibs and definitely not impressing there.

yeh you right of course
i just said Scarlett cuz i hope we get a new harry kane from our youth out of the blue

also true that's why i asked about the back-up cuz to get 2 new strikers in one summer window, is not something i see happening (but it we should get 2 new strikers and many more other players ,but i can already see rdz after the summer window is closed and needing to justify why the board didn't get a new striker/more new players)

I can't believe the Richi vs Solanke debate is still going on. A strikers currency is goals, not running around looking busy. Richi gets on base. Both need sold in the summer, but if the mental decision to keep one happens, I'd rather the one that actually does something which helps us, as opposed to the guy you know you won't score.

Again, both absolutely not good enough.

Solanke’s main piece of leverage over Richy was availability and that’s all gone out the window basically since he’s arrived here. Both been sick notes but at least Richy scores at a decent clip when he does get on the pitch.

Richie is vastly better than Solanke.
He's a constant threat that defenders actually have to defend against.
He also digs in and helps the defence.
The fact Richie is more durable is concerning for Solanke's career as well.

And although I missed most of it (typical), that seems to be the best performance of the season and reading on the Beeb about the performance, Richi's pressing was paramount to the performance, so there's Solanke's big advantage gone.
I also think Dom's ability on the ball is vastly overrated here, he's also a poor footballer.

Solanke holds the ball better, that’s about the only thing I can say with certainty. Richy isn’t great at holding it up, partly because he tries to con the ref into calling a foul everytime.

Outside of that and as previously mentioned, Solanke’s ability to stay on the pitch prior to his move here, Richy is a better player everywhere else.

It's a tricky one. You could argue Solanke deserves a chance under a new manager to show what he can do, (although he's not exactly set the world on fire so far under De Zerbi), but Richarlison's still got the much higher goal threat (when he's fit enough to play, which is another issue).

Out of the two I prefer Richarlison, but I don't think either of them are good enough for us, sadly.

Bringing in two new front man at the same time, is a huge risk though, especially given Spurs record with buying strikers over the years, and the general dearth of top talent in the position at the moment.

It's a dilemma for sure. There's some tough decisions to be made in the summer in regards to our recruitment. Just hope the guys we've got in charge are up to the job...

Oh, FFS!
Solanke most definitely does NOT deserve yet another chance.

You need four top class options. With three international level and a kid off the bench its a year early for Lankshear he needs another year possibly at Ipswich or a top Championship side. The market is poor I was hung up on Oshimen for a long time but think we are past that now. Not sure where we find them.but we need proven talent.

No-one has four strikers these days. Next season with no Europe we need two and one utility forward who can play a couple of roles.

Agree about the market being poor

Not much proven talent on the market

I know he is another young striker but I like Kroupi at Bournemouth......he is giving Defoe vibes with both his playing style and personality.

Yeah I think whatever happens we have to 100% sign a new striker who we're viewing as our first choice. Whether we keep Rich or Solanke, they should ideally be seen as the backup/rotation option.

Even putting aside their respective limitations and merits, neither can stay fit enough to be relied on as a first choice option.
