No really. I've pointed out that outside of his first 10 matches where he caught everyone off guard, Ange's first season isn't really any different than his 2nd season. Once he was sussed after 10 matches, we were one of the poorer teams in the league.

He was lucky he got off to a fortunate flying start. It was a fluke, that's it.
Aye and if he’d woke every match he’d have won the quadruple.

Why are you resorting to “if”. Just deal with facts.

Fuck me, you’re even originally replying to a post where I had a pop at Ange by having a pop at Ange. What the fuck is going on here?

Tbf to Ginger Pele he was signed as a CF, and was much better at it that Janssen, Soldado, and Kolo Muani to name a few

It’s pretty mad to look back when we signed him.

We already had Les Ferdinand, Chris Armstrong, and Steffen Iversen as recognised CFs.

Then a couple of months after buying him we bought Rebrov. And didn’t sell any of the other 3! Interesting squad building.

You may have had a pop, but ultimately you said him being gone was the main reason we were so bad this season.

Of course, we're only 1 point behind where we ended last season with 3 matches to go, and in the same position in the table. Hard to understand your logic that we'd be better if Ange were here.

Because, and I’m very prepared to die on this hill, this season would have been nowhere near as bad if he had remained after the summer.

He’d have either done better, so still be here. Or done the same or worse, but would have been sacked after 8-10 matches.

Instead we hired Frank the Freak. And gave him far too long to stink the place out with, well, not football, but whatever the fuck you’d call what he was serving up.

Doesn’t detract from Romero being better than Danso though.

Romero has 4 reds in the league since arriving in August of 2021. This talk is all because he got two in a year

He stepped on Casemiro's ankle after winning the ball, on the follow through. It's a red but it's not violent behavior. You are responsible for where your foot goes, but seen on video in real time the fact that it's accidental is obvious. (his red in that 4-1 to Chelsea a few years ago was exactly the same)

Kicking out at Konate was the other and it's a foolish thing to do, but it was very light contact in response to Konate lying on top of him. There was obviously no intent to injure and it's about as violent as a strongly worded letter to the council.

Does he need to control himself sure, but casting him as a headhunter or a psycho is absurd

Well thats a fair debate for another thread.

Romero is better than Danso, yes. But he's not £95kpw better than Danso. Squad building isn't a series of 1v1 comparisons, its how do you, with the resources available, assemble the best squad possible.

And its not Romero or Danso in my mind. Its Romero or Vuskovic. Moving Romero out and Vuskovic in frees up ±£120kpw in wages and adds ±£50M in transfer revenue. This allows us to divert resources to the midfield and attack, which are clearly areas of egregious weakness.

Tbf it was just pleaty either taking advantage of, or doing a favour for, Luton.

I'm haunted by going to an everton game during the hoddle era - at that time and both he and Poyet got sent off. It was in the lower tier of the old stand which was like watching the game through a letterbox. We'd not long got Sheringham back, so we had 5 strikers, technically. Seems anachronistic in the modern game because no one plays 2 up from any more

I'm in disbelief. Actual Spurs fans saying they'd rather have Danso than Romero.
This fucking world really is upside down.
Trump the leader of the free world. Farage likely to be PM. And Danso preferred to Romero.
Someone wake me up when this shit is over.

Danso has been comfortably better this season. And seems to want to be here. And seems to give a shit. And has decent leadership qualities. And is disciplined enough to not be wandering around in the opponents box while they are busy scoring in ours.

Basically, this season, id be in disbelief if you didn't prefer Danso.

I’ve got great memories of going to an Everton game back around that time. Maybe George Graham was manager, early part of the season and we won 3-2. Late Iverssen goal winning it.

We were east lower that day.
Right in line with the six yard box that he scored the winner in.

Good times!!

Yeah, he was deffo signed a a defender, it was just back in the days when some CB's played emergency CF, and vice-versa like Dublin and Sutton

No, signed as CF and made his debut as one. Came on for Iversen against United. Next match, he came on at half time for Iversen again.
His next app, he came on for Les Ferdinand against City in the following season, then Rebrov agains villa after that.

He settled as a CB but didn't play as one until a bit later - as per this note when he scored his first goal for us at newcastle "Young Gary Doherty, a forward (against) Ipswich but shifted into the back three here by Graham, was at the centre of much of a remarkable passage of play" (Three off as Spurs hit home)

It was around that Graham era that I loved Espen Baardsen and hated Ian Walker. Baardsen was probably the equivalent of Kinsky, but he went on Noel's house party and did well against the robot penalty kicker, and was one of my favourites at the time. I played in goal around then and liked a lot of the obscure keepers, like Pegguy Arphexad

I’ve already seen the narrative being spouted that the team is looking better without him, so it must mean Danso is better.

Or maybe having a competent coach for the first time in four years is making the team look better and he would be flying right now too?
