Very best of Odobert was still low than lows of Sonny.

Odobert is a decent squad player but he will never hit the heights of being a top3 or 4 wingers in PL.

We got to do better than him. This is one position I want us pay the big money to attract a class player

He is a kid but a kid with a lot of talent. When Son left we should have brought a senior winger and had Odobert as an apprentice which is what most well run clubs do.

Does anyone trust Lange and his team to get anything right, they should be out the door B4 anyone comes in, they have made a big enough mess already and should not get the chance to make it worse.

The disappointing thing is I don't mind some of the players he's identified but he should be no higher up than youth set up at the club. We need far bigger personalities navigating things than him and to give Roberto what he wants and needs to kick the club on now.

To his defense, he's only played 19 matches this season due to injuries (only 11 from start) and has managed to score 7 goals.

However, I do get your point. But if we're not going to spend any money, then Vlahovic is a free option.
What’s his superpower though? The way strikers are being allowed to be brutalised by defenders by PL referees they need a superpower to survive. Either elite speed or huge physicality, or a Berbatov-like touch and movement. You need at least one of these or you’ve got no chance. There’s a reason so few strikers got 20 goals this season.

So the clear starts now:-

Vicario
Davies
Romero
Muani
Sarr
Richarlison
Udogie
Dragusin
Scarlett

Leaves the below to players to work with and add to:-

Kinksy
Porro
Van de Ven
Souza
Danso
Spence
Bergvall
Gray
Gallagher
Palhinha
Bentancur
Tel
Odobert
Xavi
Maddison
Solanke

I’d like to get rid of Solanke and couple more in the above but want to see what a new season under De Zerbi could do.

The only player we have in the front 3 who is worthy to start for us is Kudus IMO, personally I sell Solanke as top priority as think we could recoup roughly half what we paid for him, you just as well hold on to Richy as he's got 1 year left on his deal and we're unlikely to get anything more than a paltry sum for him, plus he's alright in a bit part role IMO and still a better striker than Solanke. RKM goes back to PSG, I would be shopping Tel about to try and get the money back on him as well with a view to buying as starting LW, then have Moore back from Rangers as depth until Odobert is fit again. You can probably get away with Madds and Kulu at 10 until Xavi is fit again, certainly I would buy a new RW as well though, Kudus' form was patchy even when fit and Kulu almost certainly won't have the legs to play wide anymore with this long a layoff.

Intersting hearing RDZ say he only wants to keep 10 or 11 of the current squad (and I largely agree with him).

The owners need to decide if they want to aim high (i.e. try and finish as high as possible) or slowly build by following the unsuccessful pattern of buying promising youth and cheaper alternatives. RDZ will leave if it is the latter. No mid-week football next season so we have a really good chance to have a great season if we invest early in top-tier players.

Keep [13 of current squad]:
  • Kinsky
  • Porro
  • Spence
  • Danso
  • Van de Ven
  • Udogie
  • Gray
  • Bentancur
  • Palhinha*
  • Gallagher
  • Maddison
  • Kudus
  • Solanke
  • Moore (reassess in theJan window when Simons / Odobert are fit and how many minutes he will get)
*I am not 100% convinced we should buy Palhinha despite his heroics. Ideally I'd like like more progressive central midfielders, but am wary of too much change and a lack of leadership

Reassess once fully fit [3] (but do not consider part of the squad until then):
  • Kulusevski
  • Odobert
  • Simons
Loan [4]:
  • Tel
  • Bergvall
  • Vuskovic (only if he signs a new 5-year contract)
  • Souza
Sell / Release [8]:
  • Davies (add to coaching staff?)
  • Bissouma
  • RKM
  • Dragusin
  • Sarr
  • Vicario
  • Richarlison
  • Romero
Buy [8]:
  • GK
  • LB
  • LCB
  • RCB
  • CM
  • RWF
  • LWF
  • CF

With the expected outgoings I think we'll need to see 5/6 new faces at a bare minimum. I'm also very glad that RDZ has mentioned needing at least two first team players for each position, despite us not having european football next year.

If you take out the players we know won't be available for the start of the season, i'm hoping to see something like this:

GK: Kinsky / Ortega

RB: Porro / Spence
RCB: Vuskovic / Danso
LCB: Van De Ven / Senesi
LB: Robertson / Udogie

CDM: Locatelli / Gray
CM: Bentancur / Bergvall
CAM: Maddison / Gallagher

RW: Kudus / Kulu (?)
ST: Schick / Solanke
LW: Marmoush / Tel

..I'm so glad we're not having to build a squad for the championship
Stay as far away from Locatelli as possible. Mediocre footballer who plays like a World Beater 7 times a year.

What? We are miles away from Liverpool. Finishing 17th once can be put down as very unlucky season but twice. Nah mate, we ain't too good for Robertson albeit I would have agreed with you in January but now the season is over and I can reflect a bit then its clear we need a new culture and on the pitch leadership team to raise standards.
Exactly. So go and buy a top tier LB, and not someone who is well past their best.

It’s easy to forget Sonny did next to nothing on his first season here in a much better coached and settled side. Even in year two he didn’t break into the side until the 2nd half of the season. Some players need time and guidance to find their confidence and potential.

No idea why we’d sign Andy Robertson. I could understand it in January when we were desperate for leaders. But now we’ve stayed up? No thanks. He’s not good enough, legs have gone and he’s only got one season in him at most. Let RDZ build his own team, not Lange.

Can't agree. Whilst I admittedly have not seen him play much this season, some Liverpool fans seem to still really rate him. In any case, he's been one of my favourite ever PL LBs. He's pretty much a legend really. So to see him turn out for us next season will be really nice.

On top of that he's a winner, a perfect professional and a leader. Something we badly need.

I just cannot understand, after all people have seen the last two seasons, that fans are making the same mistakes and not wanting us to sign proven experienced winners. Madness.

Like you say you have not seen him play this season. His legs have gone. His main strength was his aggression and relentless running on the left flank. He no longer does that. Weak in the air as well. Anytime we played a decent winger he'd be on toast. That is why Liverpool are letting him go.

I am not saying do not buy experienced players /leaders. I am saying buy the best ones in their peak years (26-30).
