Player Andy Robertson

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Wrote this in the other thread, for a 2nd choice LB it’s fine.. it’s obviously not some awful player and he’ll probably do a reasonable job in a bit-part role.

What concerns me much more about this is what it signifies about control behind the scenes — Robertson was a Lange/Vinai target predating De Zerbi. So Lange is still in charge then, at least for now… and it matches Vinai’s bollocks interview talking about needing proven leadership. So we’ve made a club signing and given a way past his best Robertson a fat chunk of wages, and I guess that’s that. I’d much prefer to pay for real quality, I think quality is by far a more pressing concern than “leadership” or “experience” but that’s just me… the whole thing is not entirely convincing and I still get the feeling that the overall direction of the club is in serious disarray.
I think it's impossible to know from the outside how rotten the culture had become inside. Clearly you don't finish 17th twice with the squad we have unless something has gone horribly wrong.

Frank was a wet wipe but was clearly undermined by the players from early on.

Clearly the ownership thinks we need professional, experienced battlers rather than kids and foreign mercenaries.

That's why we've signed Palhinha, Gallagher and now Robertson. De Zerbi seems aligned with this.

I don't think it's a bad place to start. It should raise the floor.

We then need to sprinkle the stardust on top.

Aside from the leadership angle I doubt we could have signed a better LB rotation without blowing a large chunk of our transfer budget. I prefer the money to go towards fixing the attack.

Free transfer.
Better than what we've currently got.
Provides depth.
Winner.
Strong mentality.
Leader.

Why the fuck are people complaining about this. 32 and a 2 year deal. Strengthens us without putting too big of a dent into the budget. Smart move.

Great signing. Hates losing, so will teach the other soft pricks in the squad not to accept it. Fucking hated him at Liverpool, so he has done something right then. As a squad option, couldn't ask for better since he's also coming without spending a penny.

We've lacked leadership and experience for some time now, look at what happened when our midfield got some experience and attitude back in it.

This will also hopefully push Udogie back to where he was before his injuries as well, a bit of solid competition is good

We've needed an actual left footed cover option at LB for some time now instead of shoehorning Spence there. He also didn't cost us anything so it allows us to use our budget towards bigger priorities. His game going forward is a good contrast to Udogie's with his crossing.

Liverpool fans say that he was not good the season before last because he was carrying an injury, but last season was much better (and miles better than Kerkez).
Yeah I think a lot of Spurs fans are weirdly more negative about this than the Liverpool fans that actually watch him week-in, week-out.

Most Pool fans I've seen say he was probably their best full-back this season and, while he's past his best, is still a good player they're happy to see on the teamsheet.

Not gonna pretend I'm thrilled at the signing but also not gonna shit on it from the start. Let's see how he does. And while it's far from a guarantee of success, having another leader in the squad really cannot hurt - we looked a rudderless barrel of shite mid-season with no real leaders in the side.

We’ll mostly have 1 game a week next season, right? As a 2nd choice LB option, there’s very limited downside to this. This adds an experienced player & winner to the group while also allowing additional funds to other positions. Don’t love the move but can’t hate it. Curious to see if we still look to move on from Udogie

Reckon this is us done at LB in the short term. We probably want to see how Souza develops on loan and give Udogie another try under RDZ.

Think it's last chance saloon for Udogie now. If he can't stay fit and string some decent performances together we need to look to sell next summer. Really can't see us selling him yet though.
