Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If we ended the window with this frontline, how would people rate it:

RW
Kudus, Savio, (Kulusevski to return)

CF
Solanke, Marmoush, Tel

LW
Marmoush, Savio, Tel, Moore (Odobert to return)

AM
Maddison, Gallagher, Moore, (Simons to return)

IMO that’s a decent effort from the club

I'd take that.

If this was our incoming business I'd be very pleased:

Robertson
Sensei
Van Hecke
Wharton
Savio
Marmoush
Another goal keeper

I dont think itll be a popular opinion, but Im far from convinced Moore is ready - and feel he would be better served with another loan

Ideally championship

Performing well (not amazing) in a shit Rangers team in a poor league is a great step for a first proper loan, but Im not sure it puts him in a place to take on the premier league - I think he needs another step up first

That aside, its not a bad set of options at all

It’s an interesting one. I’d be open to keeping him around until January to assess how ready he is. If he’s not ready, you can give him another loan in January when Odobert and Simons should be back

How many new players are too many ?

Im not sure its a consideration to be honest.

Im very much quality over quantity, but if we ended up buying in 10 I wouldnt mind

Look at Sunderland, massive overhaul in the summer, didnt really miss a beat

RDZ has a very specific way of playing, specific requirements, and the squad is an utter mess - feels like come the end of the summer we need to have had a good amount of churn to get things where RDZ likely wants them

Agreed

It does raise questions around our young players.

Not their fault, of course, the squad has been built in such a cockeyed way I think there are going to be decisions made that wont sit well with everyone.

I like Tel and Odobert probably more than most on here, they do seem to get some stick. I dont think either are nailed on to succeed, but I do think both are talented and have potential - and should have a place in the squad

Similarly Grey and Bergvall, big potential, need to play

(and Vuskovic, Souza, Moore, LWB...)

To buy players to improve the team, to suit RDZ, to balance the squad (which is a mess) - Ive a sinking feeling we are going to end up either sacrificing some of these players - or just compromising them and stalling their careers

I understand we arent in a position to play them all, but I also cant help feeling very much against signings like Wilson for exactly these reasons

OMFG.
IF (again massive IF) we sign Wilson then he would exactly be that kind of player with whom there would be no remorse at all when he plays 200 minutes.

But the moment you sign two starting quality players - say Marmoush and Savinho mentioned by someone else - it will be game over for Tel and Odobert for good with us, it is guaranteed.

I am literally describing option that would give Tel and Odobert more chance to succeed, but you just keep repeating how Wilson would block their path. When actually it is 180 degrees opposite.

Is anyone else getting PTSD flashbacks whenever we’re linked with this Bahoya guy? Another young winger from France…

After Njie, Nkoudou, Odobert, and Tel, I’m already scared at the thought of us going for him.

As I said originally, I am fully expecting some moves to be made that dont go down that well with the fans (in general)

Be that selling a Bergvall or someone, for example

And I think thatll be a shame

Ultimately, like you, I just want to see us stronger next year, but there is a part of me that still wants us to view the next season, and the one after that too

I appreciate we need some short term major surgery, but I do want to see a bigger picture too

In the case of Robertson, for example
- If the idea is get him in, he's free, experienced, we'll worry about LB again in a couple of years

Well, short term thats fine, but it also doesnt sound that great to me, of its

- Get him in to challenge, cover Udogie, bring some leadership to help augment the squad dynamic - AND - find Souza a quality loan to gain experience, come back in a year and challenge himself

Thats sounds a lot better to me!

Id loan Bergvall happily this year to help ease those squad dynamics, and get him play-time (if we dont see him playing this year) on the proviso by next summer theres a place in the squad for him to come and fight for

Id be hesitant to loan him if the idea is to just kick the can down the road and worry about it later...

And thats largely where my heads at when talking about the like of Wilson, I just dont think its worth it in the wider context.

To TheSpurEst point above, there is also the other dynamic of we get the opportunity to bring in a real needle mover - which also compromises a younger talent. Again, part of me would be sad for that - but at least its in the name of genuine progress, which is I think what we all really want to see, isnt it?

Yes.

Knowing what sits in De Zerbi's mind is probably the bit that makes views, more or less on-point in many respects.

You are expressing a preference in how you want us to progress as opposed to anything else. Not short-term fixes but longer term fruition, if maybe achieved more steadily, and with our younger players forming a strong part of that direction. It's understandable.

None of it seems to however acknowledge that if at the end of pre-season training (or before), De Zerbi says thinks thanks but not good enough, so ciao.

On the Robertson signing, 100% agree. It's a bit difficult to decode.

Managers need to be backed as there is no point in bringing them in otherwise. To what extent might be dictated by the circumstances they arrived in.

I would like to believe that before we signed or sold anyone, even more so than if we loaned younger players out for a period, tha it would only occur after through and rigorous consideration, as well as some form of justification..

I'd take that.

The term "先生", read "sensei" in Japanese, xiansheng in Chinese, seonsaeng in Korean, and tiên sinh in Vietnamese, is an honorific used in the Sinosphere. In Japanese, the term literally means "person born before another" or "one who comes before". It is generally used after a person's name and means "teacher".

Yep

Also Savinho is 22.....what were the likes of Semenyo and Mbeumo doing at the same age. Not every player flourishes or hits their peak at a young age, some take longer to find the right club/environment/ coach to get the best out of them

The key here is does DeZerbi want Savinho. If he does then let's see what he can do with the player. The suggested transfer fee of 50-60 mill is outrageous and will put huge pressure on Savinho from day one. That's unfortunate and not the players fault.

Does he really want Savinho or does he just not want the other players offered to him? Savinho might be the least shittest?

If both are fit, is Wilson better than Kudus?

Edit: Or does he solve any problems that Kudus can’t tactically?

1) He is much better finisher
2) His output in terms of goals + assists through his Fulham career has been better than Kudus one for us
3) He would come at small fraction of cost
4) And be HG

Jeez, I'm starting to feel like he'd be my favorite or most desired player now :D . Which is far from truth.

To me it can be someone else who fits the bill similarly (EPL proven, can produce goals and assists, not super expensive), a TEMPORARY cover that would serve as an insurance policy BEHIND our young winger prospects.

But I've got a feeling that some people do not realize - not all players you sign can realistically be world-class quality players who are expected to triple their value going forward. Some players might not be that fancy but to be brought on to serve a specific purpose.
