This bloke really looks the business

i wanted van gaal lol :pochfacepalm:

Was happy when we got him wanted
either him, de boer or van gaal.

Think our squad is better balanced than manures anyway, feel it's going to take a year or two for van gaal to sort them out, in that time I hope we can move out of slight.

I always think we can win the league because I'm a stupid cunt :nawty:

If Lamela keeps playing like he has, Eriksen builds on last season and Dier keeps playing like JESUS the title is in the bag.

This high line pressing, centre backs spread midfield drop back, 3 prong forwards, etc tactic is so amazing. What's more amazing is that no other manager is deploying it. Why?

From a Telegraph article:

Pochettino, though, is not rushing to anoint Lamela as the next north London No 10. “Lamela, Adebayor, [Christian] Eriksen, [Nacer] Chadli all created movement,” he said.
“He [Lamela] changed his position and they are [all] free. But we need to have the structure. When we lose the ball, we work a lot as to what we have to do. We do that in training. But it’s important Eriksen and Lamela feel free because they are creative players. You can put players like that in their shells. But they need the movement to be able to attack. Today he was sometimes No 10, sometimes right, sometimes left, sometimes changing with Adebayor.”

This is what I've been talking about forever. I always see people talking about who is gonna play on the left or right or 'up front', but in the end it shouldn't matter. Our forwards should be versatile and creative enough to adapt and interchange on the fly and be elusive that way. That's what makes the best teams so dangerous because you never know where the danger is coming from when so many people are running from different angles. Here's hoping we continue in this direction and get better at it.

As long as we keep Pochettino in charge I see no reason why we won't continue to develop our fluid interchanging shit all over the defense style of play. I really think Levy might of finally got the right one in to take us to new heights but I just hope we don't lose him to madrid or the like in season or 2. The bloke seems sharp as fuck and nobody has a bad word to say about him. When we do the scousers on the weekend the hype machine will kick into overdrive lol

:pochohshit:

A little quote on Chadli talking a bit about Poch's style:

“It is a new way of playing and effectively we have three No.10s - that is good because we can also get the full-backs into forward positions and at times we can have five players supporting Ade when we go forward.”
Three # 10s ... sounds so freaking exciting! :crouch:

The scoring was great and some of the individual performances were as well, but watching Chadli, Pamela, and Eriksen weave in and out on runs just made it all the better. So many people screamed last year to give them more freedom on the pitch, including me, so it's great to see it happen.

I'm thinking the only way we're going to keep this up is by becoming so good none of our players/manager want to go. Well maybe a few as unless we rename ourselves Real Madrid or Barcelona we'll never have that much of a pull.

The manager is more important than the players if you want to keep a particular philosophy going for a sustained period of time. As long as we hold onto Poch everything else can be replaced really. Still massively early days mind you.

The best evidence that can be attributed to Pochettino was not the 48 pass move culminating in a goal (which was clearly magnificent) but the fact that 12-18 months ago, we would have passed the ball three times in and around the area, before allowing Dawson to hoof the ball fifty yards, in all probability out of play.

There has been comment that our defenders weren't challenged or forced into a pass, well that isn't our problem. Our problem has been maintaining possession through patience and movement, well Sunday was the most glaring evidence that what is being coached is being transferred from training ground to pitch.

The Poch tactics truly shone through on Sunday, in all honesty I don't expect us to regain that level until after Christmas, that system Harry played gave us so much time in the final third it was unreal, the most pointless use of a back three possible, no athleticism in any of their central defenders. We looked fucking good though, Chadli said in his interview this system is basically playing three number 10s and they are encouraged to switch throughout, the pressing from everyone was fantastic also. Let's hope he can get us to stifle Liverpool, there's definitely a bit of space behind them.

Poch's system seems to suit the players we have, in effect we have Eriksen, Holtby, Lamela, Chadli, Paulinho who are all sort of numbers 10's anyway so a system that has 3 switching number 10's fits in with our personnel.

Another sign was how many balls we won high up the pitch. Players were swarming to the ball. Winning back 2nd and 3rd balls.

Also our counter never once looked as fast and sharp last season. It was almost like last year we gave opposing Ds time to get back and set up.
