Yeah, childish. It is a childish fucking cliché drawing the "youtube card" when someone disagrees with you.

And have a look at your initial post, it's a bunch of cocksure, hindsight crap. And wrong. That's why.

And even Messi misses easy chances ffs. What does it matter when he bagged 24 league goals + the fastest ever Champions league hattrick that year? That's a top player for you right there.

He was never a top player...you can keep repeating it all you want but he has never been and will never be a top player (as evidenced by his shocking form with us).

To be considered a "top player" you need to possess a whole range of attributes..that to me is essential when you determine who is a "top player".

A "top player" doesn't score all those goals and then suddenly stop scoring for 2 whole seasons (whilst missing easy chances galore which he has done so with us). A top player performs at a consistent level no matter what the circumstances are (yes there might be a dip in form but to suddenly stop scoring all together...nah that doesn't happen to a top player).

You keep saying you don't know why but it hasn't worked out here. I'll explain why...because he has to many limitations to his game. AVB played possession football which clearly isn't suited to his game...we created hardly anything so i don't even consider the first 6 months. Sherwood implemented fast paced gung ho style and again Soldado was poor (watch sherwoods first game vs Southampton...Soldado missed THREE 1 on 1 sitters ffs). Poch is trying to implement a bit of both and guess what...not working again. Soldado only works if you play wingers either side and a fast paced style like Valencia.

Never a top player? How daft are you?

He was the main striker and topscorer for Valencia, who came 3rd two seasons in a row while he was there, only beaten by Real and Barca.

He scored 17, 18 and 24 league goals in the three seasons there.

Fuck me.

I regretted posting what I did almost straight away.

I've been out the country last year but that first season for us I saw every home game he played in live and I saw a top player destroyed by the way we played.

I understand why people dismiss him (it's not hard to understand that pov) but I really think it's too simplistic.
He can have a great season but I think in reality needs to move on.

How is the fact that he's not a top player NOW evidence that he was never a top player? I'd say Alan Shearer isn't a top player now, but he sure was..

Okay, so now we're creating our own definitions of top player and using them as the holy truth.. Got it.

I've said it once.
You seem confused. You go ahead and have a nice evening, I think my work here is done :adethumbup:

... Back to twitter rumours!

Kevin Phillips won the golden boot and was the premier league leading goalscorer once (whilst always managing to score pretty consistently throughout his career). I think Marcus Stewart and James Beattie were close to being league goalscorers in other seasons.

They were good GOALSCORERS but never were they considered top players because they had limitations to their games. Whereas you just see goal records and instantly class someone as a top player i look at the players overall attributes to determine whether he is. Your work here is far from done and you're so far off the mark but you'll probably never see it..sad really.

My point was that he was a streaky striker...not score for a while then go on a run...then not score again. He also missed easy chances at Valencia (just like he's done here).
Ah so your main issue here is that Soldado isn't Messi or Ronaldo.

Gotcha.

Should have just come out with that at the start, would have saved everyone a lot of typing.

Are we suggesting that Messi isn't a top player because he would lose an aerial battle 999/1000 against fazio?

Because that sounds like a limitation to me.

They played for shit clubs in a top league.

Soldado played for a top club in a top league.

Can you see how they're not comparable?

Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that while they would be willing to sell midfield starlet Adrien Rabiot, the youngster would not be able to depart for less than €30 million.

Calciomercato [via Le 10 Sport] understand that PSG have set this asking price for the player, but such is the fee, that the reigning French champions may have priced potential suitors out of a move for the U21 international.

Having lost Arturo Vidal—who is on the brink of completing a £28 million move to Bayern Munich [The Guardian]—Juventus have been linked with a move for the player, with Sky Italia [via Le 10 Sport] reporting that Rabiot has been earmarked as a potential replacement for the Chilean.

Similarly, there is interest from the Premier League, with the Standard noting that both West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur are keen on the elegant midfield star.
It remains to be seen, however, whether any of Juve, the Hammers or Spurs would be willing to part with a whopping €30 million (the equivalent of £21 million) to prise the Parisian away from the Parc des Princes.

PSG are shedding midfielders at an alarming rate this summer, with Yohan Cabaye having departed and Thiago Motta heavily linked with an exit door [ESPN].

However, while they may not be keen to see another midfielder leave, such a loss may be mitigated by the arrival of Benjamin Stambouli, who completed a move from Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday [BBC Sport].

but Messi is outstanding in every other attribute. Not good,...outstanding. Every player obviously has a weak point as nobody is perfect.

If you actually look at Soldado's attributes:
Heading = Meh
Pace = Meh
Passing = at Valencia i would say meh but here it's been better than i thought it would be.
Finishing = at Valencia good and here it's been shite
Strength = Meh
Link up play = Meh...it's been better here than at Valencia tbh.
positioning = good at valencia and meh here.
