2018 FIFA WORLD CUP RUSSIA 14th June - 15th July

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Piss boiling is quite amusing, brate. I do admit that this thread and it's contributors and cretins like SouthStand Billy SouthStand Billy and all the other "pwopah" Spurs supporters has helped me kill off some time today. They are still daft cunts who just can't understand that club and country support can be different, though. Their whole world has fallen apart due to the fact that someone, with a wierd name on the forum, doesn't jump on the english bandwagon wanking of Southgate, AND STILL HAS THE AUDACITY TO CALL HIMSELF A SPURS FAN. My days... What have the world gone to.

I sincerely understand that you are proud of them though, I would too if I was English. But I'm not and I'm rooting for Croatia or Belgium (who also has some marvelous Spurs players) to lift the trophy.

This forum is golden btw. Seems crowded with passive aggressive success deprived males crying for something to counter their gloating neighbour/work mates with. Maybe this is more true for the English Spurs supporters, with a national team that has also let them down every time since the 1960s, than for the rest of the lot around here? Hence the strong reactions in this gem of a thread. One could wonder.

I really do hope for a Spurs title this year though, half you English lot must devour a ton of blood pressure medication to get through your day-to-day life judging by the touchy reactions around here. Maybe it could settle your feelings a bit.

No one here is talking about "hating the England national team" are they? Some (me included) maybe have their allegencies to other nations remaining in this WC? Why is that such a bad sin that we should drop our support for Tottenham (how is that even possible?). Kindly remove your head out of your pale, english ass please.

Should I be forced to be rooting for the english side if it was made up of all West Ham, Chelsea and Woolwich players aswell?

You don't owe the right to dictate how and what people supports.

There is some truth to a lot of what you have written BUT at the end of the day all you're doing is trolling and that seems a complete and utter waste of time to me.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to.both semi-finals and wouldn't begrudge seeing Belgium or Croatia win it, nor the French.

Better than someone like Germany or Argentina, at least in my opinion.

Looking forward to Tuesday and Wednesday.

France v Belgium should be a great match. Two teams full of quality players, but with a general view that they have been poorly managed. Yet both seem to have clicked through the gears in this tournament. I think anything could happen in that game.

England v Croatia...it’s still hard to believe we’re still in the conversation! This should also be a great game. I’m not completely convinced by either defence, but Croatia have a fantastic midfield, whereas England has all sorts of firepower up front. Croatia have an impressive fluidity about them, and we know all too well how great Rat Boy is. However, whilst trying to be as objective as possible, I honestly think England will be the toughest team they have faced (and vice versa).

I think we would have beaten Argentina, Denmark, and Russia. We actually play as a team for once, and after years of having quality players shoehorned into dodgy systems it’s difficult to recognise that what we’re seeing is a team combining the tactical knowledge of Pochettino, Guardiola, Mourinmoan, and Flopp. It’s evident in our positional sense and general technical ability.

With our triumphs at youth levels recently, England making the last 4 is a sign that the country is heading in the right direction again. As a Spurs fan it’s great to see Kane, Dele, Trippier, Dier, and Rose performing well on the big stage, but what’s surprised me is how much I’ve warmed to many of the other players.

Lingard has really impressed me. I thought he was an overrated twat with a creepy face before the tournament, but now I really like him. I’m loving Maguire and Pickford, and even have a soft spot for Sterling. Henderson has disappointed, but I’m happy to acknowledge that when he’s playing well he’s shown some signs of real quality.

And Kane...what a talisman. Out shopping earlier and saw a couple with their son and daughter with them (probably about ages 8-10) and they both had England shirts on with his name on the back. It made me smile as seeing Lineker and Gazza in 1990 at 10 years old made me a Spurs fan.

Apologies for the long, rambling post, but it’s just such a novelty to actually like an England team. I would have been proud of them even if we lost to Sweden, but that young team has restored so much pride. What a glorious Summer. What a glorious World Cup.

You don't owe the right to dictate how and what people supports.

Wow - just 15 messages and you've done nothing but slag off the English team, English Managers and English fans in some sad attempt to cause a bit of friction.

Do you think you're being clever - maybe you do or maybe you just don't realise how obvious you're being.

It's the oldest trick in the book - make some mildly provocative statements that you know are guaranteed to piss people off and then stand back and act all innocently as if everyone's an idiot except for your good self who was only making an innocent comment - hey guys what's with all the over reaction??....... When it was your sole intention anyway.

Seriously you're not being clever, you're not being subtle - they teach this crap year one, week one, lesson one, hour one of any two bit crappy psychology degree.

Your problem is that you can't be arsed to build up a decent backlog of posts before you come out with gems like -

English football are so so poor. No wonder only foregin managers make it in the PL.......

And

I hope Modric and co and Croatia beat England.....

The English meltdown will be hilarious.....

Yeah - you're definitely a genuine poster who's after a reasonable debate....

What a knob.

A caller said that he thought the England football team should lose the World Cup because it has 'black footballers'.

Ian told Kevin Maguire that "totally disapproves" of Britain's multiracial society, and that the England team "doesn't represent" him.

"In fact, it represents everything I'm against," he said.

He also said that there were "far too many" black people on television.

But Kevin wasn't going to let him off that easily...

The Caller Who Says England Should Lose World Cup Because Of Multiracial Squad - LBC
what a pratt, I think Kevin should have been harder on him and not given him air time. I know that these people exist but what are we doing giving them the oxygen of publicity that they depend on.

Yeh we are. I don’t expect us to win it, Croatia are as good as us and Belgium and France a bit better. I’d put our chances at around 25% but tell me we had a
25% chance of winning the thing at the start of this competition and I’d have thought you mad.

Whatever happens on Wednesday I think we’ve done brilliantly and Southgate has gone way up in my estimation as I wasn’t a fan of his before

Bit of deja vu with me though. :pochlol:

Mate, you fucking started it in your very first post to mine, so you got it back. I will always defend my opinion but if anyone wants to start to have a pop at me personally, rather than the topic at hand then I will give it you back. It's really that simple.

As for "and if you disagree, you don't understand football" where the fuck did I say this? Never said that, never accused you of that.

End.
Really, what did I say that was so inflammatory?

Not sure if its been noticed but Spurs have 13 players or former players in the World Cup split amongst all 4 semi finalists - and with a squad size of 23 players that means that 1 in 8 of all the players in the semi final squads either currently play for Spurs or have done.

Can't think of too many other clubs with that record.

These are the players (former players in blue )

England - Kane, Dele, Dier, Rose.Trippier, Walker
Belgium - Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Dembele, Chadli
France - Lloris
Croatia - Modric, Corluka

With regards to Sterling, yes he messed up BADLY, but he is still an England player and let's not become like the media. Let's get behind each and every one of the players until the end, whenever that will be.

As for the other nationalities on here (and some English posters) that are slagging off England, fuck 'em let them have their say. Jealousy is a terrible thing.

On saying that

and then

Totally with you on Sterling. He had me pulling my hair out at times yesterday, but there is no use getting on his back given that he'll almost surely start Wednesday's game and will, at the very least, spook their defence with his runs.

I pray he gets a scrappy goal and gets a morale boost - I think Dele's goal immediately improved his performance and he'll be all the better for it against Croatia.

Southgate has completely redeemed himself after fluffing his line at ‘96. Comes across brilliantly, and is loving every minute of this tournament (as well he should).

International management is a different kettle of fish to club management. The likes of Pochettino need significant time to build their philosophy. At international level you need someone who keeps things simple and can lift the mood in the camp. Redknapp probably would have done well if he hadn’t have fallen foul of Trevor Brooking.

Southgate comes across as surprised and elated as the rest of us. I think that humble attitude trickles down to the players, and he’s got us playing as a team instead of a series of individual egos.

Never mind that

I’ve just realized that when I was a kid of 6yrs I was totally into the WC and kept a sheet with all the games and scores. Guess what? We won it!

This time with my memory going to shit I am again keeping a sheet with all the games and scores. Guess what? First time since 66 we don’t look shit and we’re going to win it all!

Coincidence? I think not. Don’t bother to thank me. You’re all welcome. Enjoy
