I think that is a little early for him, get him another loan next season to a PL club and lets see what he is really about!
You only have to look at players like Winks smashing it in the Championship to know that the PL is a different animal all together!
I don't disagree in principal, but it's extremely difficult to get surefire game-time for loanees in the bottom half of the EPL..... The jeopardy of relegation is far too strong and (financially) costly.
Realistically; i think a team challenging for the title in the champo or being part of our rotation will be more likely next season.
Would like to see him come back in January and get wee bits of games here and there rather than be flogged in second half of the season in a lower league when the pitches are terrible and everyone is fighting for their lives. I think that scenario helps some players but maybe Devine will benefit more being about our first team learning every day. Even more so if we can sustain a challenge at the top. That all depends whether Ange thinks he’s capable though.
Do people who have watched more of him think he is good enough to be a backup for Maddision next season?
Its nice to know though that with Ange if the player is good enough, he will get a chance!
Cant believe after the lows of the last few seasons i'm saying it , but Its an exciting time to be a Spurs fan again!
The only way we will know is if he gets some time this season with the first team. I always think having younger players coming through on the bench is so important. There will be games when we go 3 or 4 up and that’s the ideal time to get them on and see what they are made of. I’d rather see those youngsters on the bench than guys like Dier and Lo Celso.
I think so. Maybe not direct replacement for Maddison but certainly midfield depth.
I think this season was about getting Alfie out there to play competitive men's football and see if he can handle it. Because having him in the squad this season without that was always risky if needed to be relied upon if he couldnt cope.
I'd be amazed if Skipp isn't moved on in the summer and we replace his place in the squad with Devine.
Devine wouldn't take up a squad place in Prem or UEFA next year. Would go on u21 list for Prem and on List B for UEFA so nobody would need to be moved on for him to come in. Skipp also wouldn't be taking anyone's place for UEFA since he's club-trained and we likely won't have more than 4 club-trained next season
I just meant in terms of just being in the squad as opposed to taking up a registration spot.

Yeah I get what you mean but I think the squad registration rules will probably keep Skipp around next season rather than being moved on. Our current 8 HG for Prem are Maddison, Johnson, Skipp, Davies, Sess, Forster, Austin and Whiteman and could see a few of those moving on before Skipp

yea he does look likes hes just got that special gift that the top players have. what do you do with him next year do you try get him a loan at a bottom 5 prem team/ top 5 champo team or do you bring him back into the fold? if we fell off and only got europa league then you defo bring him back. tricky one, still got a lot of football to play this year and up against men week in week out will do him the world of good.
leicester would be a great loan for him next year if he was to go on loan.

Someone that uses the ball. Those line breaking passes and the ability to recieve under pressure then ping the ball to the other side of the pitch? The ability to dribble people in the middle 3rd? There are top half champo clubs that need that.
He could be ready for us next season.

he could be. at 19 hes going to get stronger and stronger in the next 4-5 years. we just need the volume of games to have him and not stunt his development. this is where the europa and conference can be used to really benefit a club. hopefully we wont be in them tho haha
Yeah that's the thing. Can't really rotate much if we have champions league. Anyone in the squad needs to be starting 11 quality and ready. Devine is probably another year of competitive football away from that.
