Player Alfie Devine

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Devine back from injury and straight in to the starting lineup for tonights FA cup 2nd round replay against Stevenage (ex-spurs Harvey White on the bench for Stevenage). Unfortunately wasn't picked for TV.

Devine went off at 2-0 up after 63 minutes (just back from injury so prob sensible). Stevenage got goals back including one from ex-spurs Harvey White and Vale went out on pens so no third round game for Devine.

Alfie Devine plays another 90 mins as Port Vale beat Wigan in L1 to go 15th, 9 points above the relegation places

He's now started 9 x L1 matches and subbed on 6 matches plus another 5 starts in FA and EFL Cups totalling 1,236 mins playing time and 6 goal involvements (3 goals, 3 assists).

Seems to have cemented a starting position as an AM for Vale - decent first loan where he'll have learned a lot playing in a mens team.

Send him to a decent championship team in January

It would be nice if we could guarantee him time on the pitch at a decent championship side but it’s probably most realistic for him to stay at Port Vale, play almost every game and then turn up at preseason ready to break into the squad.

Worst case is he gets a loan to a championship squad next year. Dele made the jump from league 1 to PL regular around the same age in a similar position.

Yeah I agree.

It'll teach him a lot being in a relegation/mid table scrap in the lower leagues at that age. Madders did similar in Scotland.

Doubt Dane is learning much at high flying Ipswich.

He’d scored 20 league 1 goals by that time. Or similar to that at least

16 in 44 in all comps. Dele is an exception not the rule.

All the more reason to let Alfie boss league 1 rather than pull him away and hope that a championship side is willing to bed him into their XI middle of the season.
He is first choice when fit so I would leave him there.
Port Vale play Middlesbrough in the QF of EFL Cup tomorrow Tuesday 19th at 19:45.
Not on TV but should be a stream??

Probably a fair point but also might need a champo loan next summer

At the end of the season I'd let Ange make the decision of a Championship loan next season or if he thinks Alfie can be a useful squad player and get reasonable game time with Spurs first team.

He'll be 20 at the start of next season, so no hurry and I'd expect the Championship loan next season - so no reason to disrupt him to move him in January as I think he'll get more playing time at Port Vale which will be more valuable to him than going up a league and starting afresh in January
