Seen a bit of Westerlo this season due to Vuskovic and like how Simons has them playing.
This is a good loan for him.

We got a bit lucky after mismanaging his loan situation.
Wow- would be a fantastic move for him. Belgium has a good league for young talent. And linking up with Vuskovic too!

Maybe they wanted to Include him in a match day squad before sending him out on loan?
The league itself may not have much prestige. But there's a good chunk of competitive, good teams in it like Brügge, Anderlecht and Standard Liege that he is going to get to test himself against. Teams that are regularly out in Europe.
Would you have chosen Belgium over Portugal or Holland? Say playing for Braga or Twente which I’m guessing would be the league equivalent
The other windows are closed, Belgium is the best of those left open and better than not loaning him.

I didn't realise until today but he he hasn't exactly come through our academy, has he? Liverpool let him go, he went to Wigan and they had to sell him to us.

Do you know if he had any interest from Portugal or Holland? I know we all like Devine but I'm not sure there's quite as much of a buzz about him outside the Hotspur community.
I think he'll be a PL quality player, whether he'll be a Tottenham quality player, that's impossible to say.

Despite plenty of interest remaining from other clubs, nothing concrete came to fruition and Devine was named on the bench for Spurs' Premier League trip to Newcastle on Sunday.
Now he's set to head off to Belgium for regular game time in the Juliper Pro League.

A lot of youngsters move between academies when younger - that's why Harry Kane spent time at Watford and Woolwich before being released by Woolwich aged 14 and joined Spurs.
Alfie Devine was let go by Liverpool, joined Wigan who almost went bust and let go its best prospects - so Spurs bought Devine for circa £300k (the value effectively means its a development fee rather than a transfer fee) when Devine was aged 16 .
So Devine spent 2 years in Spurs academy (as do other lads who sign a scholarship at Spurs and other clubs)and in total has now been at Spurs for 4 years and will count as a Club Trained player when aged 21.
So your suggestion ' he hasn't exactly come through our academy' is 100% wrong.
He's as much an academy lad as 'One of our own' Harry Kane.
There are NO guarantees any player will make it at any club, and it may not be apparent for some time even after they start playing in the first team (an obvious example being Saido Berahino who made over 100 appearances for WBA in PL and some Spurs fans were irate when Spurs would not pay the money WBA wanted ..... but he's dropped down the pyramid of clubs now playing in India, so it took some time for some to realise he wasn't 'making it')
However Devine is like a dynamo, doesn't give up , has very good passing playing as a DLP or no 10, and could well become a better version of Sarr or Bentancur. Hopefully we will see him in Spurs first team next season and see if he can rise to, and stay at, the heights needed to be a Spurs first team player
