Another one of the young lads that are nowhere near getting into our first team. Donley will be next. Both decent young players but will waste years watching football if they stayed with us.

Devine didn't show me that he was ever going to be a PL player one day while on loan to Port Vale. He did alright and at times you could see he had ability, but he was completely outshone at the time by Olly Arblaster who was also on loan from Sheffied United. He ran games. Devine just showed flashes, but not enough of them.

For some bizarre reason we have a lot of fans that think our young Academy players are all future superstars. They’re always horrified when they don’t play or get sent on loan to lower league clubs.
The fact none of them ever achieve anything special once they leave this club seems to be ignored.

Is he really that bad compared to the other players we have? His always looked decent when played. Good feet and lovely passer. Who is making these decisions on our academy players. Feel really sorry for them they do well in their age level teams, decent loan spells then get treaded like shit by the club.

I always liked the cut of his jib and actually hoped this season he’d get some minutes as a back up 10. Has an eye for a pass.

hes bossing this game v wrexham now, dropping deep to get on the ball. this is a good loan for him in terms of mens football, but a player like him needs good footballers to play with, hes playing with shit.

This is it. Our youth recruitment and the whole youth system needs ripping up from the ground up. We're not producing anything like the talent a club of our size, resources and facilities should.

One of our biggest issues is we are fighting for scraps off the main table.
Chelsea and Woolwich are the preferred option for most youngsters. Chelsea also have the bigger academy in terms of numbers of players.
Chelsea are just super aggressive in their whole academy structure. They really represent a funnel system though. A hell of a lot of players go into that funnel in the first place.
