IMHO he's phrased this wrong...
Had he said "I've always WON things in my 2nd season" then factually, that's accurate, and no one can have an issue with it....

But by saying "I always WIN THINGS in my 2nd season" is kinda trying to predict the future, and also setting himself up for a massive failure!

It's akin to us "Always" winning something when the year ends in '1'....
Until we didn't...
For 3 decades running!!
1901, '21, '51, '61, '71, '81, '91 is only SEVEN times out of a possible 12... that's just over half...

Hardly ALWAYS, is it?

I'm not an Ange cultist but I do want him to succeed. I think our performances this season have actually been quite consistent and on the whole very good but yeah when it's bad it's very bad.

Playing this way needs everyone to be on it and playing with intensity. Today we had none and it was the same 2nd half v Brighton. Both games came after Thursday night games so I wonder if it is possible to play his style twice a week. That been said we have been rotating a lot in Europe so not really an excuse. On top of that last year we had 1 game a week and still had performances like today.

I can't think of many teams that have pulled it off only klopps Liverpool really and maybe early days poch. Hopefully we can find the consistency because when we are good we are really good.
Oh yeah because Ange-ball is so uniquely demanding.

City, Liverpool and Woolwich play the same XI on Wednesday and Sunday and still perform.

We fully rotate and people still want to trot out the fatigue excuse. There were people doing it last season when we literally played 1 game a week for the whole season!

I'll take another season of "win one, lose one" if he wins a trophy.

I'm just hanging on for a trophy, any trophy. I need something tangible to show for all these wasted years
I'm hoping that being a fully midtable side actually helps us win a trophy.

In the past when we've been in the ropey league we've been realistic top 4 contenders and generally prioritised league position. Now there's not a hope in hell we finish in the top 4 so maybe we fully focus on the cups this season.

Why does anyone think we have what it takes to win a trophy? Sooner or later you are going to have to play someone decent. Even in the Europa does anyone fancy this side against Bilbao, Lazio or Frankfurt? Brighton stuck 3 past us in 45 mins and Palace could have had 3 or 4 today. An intimidating atmosphere at the Olympic stadium in Rome and this lot will fold.
We have precisely zero chance of winning the Europa league

How are you meant to ‘enjoy’ beating up the dog & duck while being abysmal up against your peers? It’s like losing your Sunday league matches but then banging in 5 in the back garden vs your toddler at home
Different competition.
There’s nobody in the Europa League that isn’t equally flawed. There’s probably not one team in the EL who would finish near the top of the Prem from what I’ve seen.
Fans talk up winning a trophy. We can win this one.
That’s not to say that we will but I certainly don’t fear United or an 11th place Roma.

We can. We probably won’t. I’d love for us to do it but I don’t think we are tactically suited to knockout football (despite the stamping on the farmers) and I’d not fancy us against a good handful of teams who regularly go far in cup competitions.

But yes, it’s still 100% fine to be excited about the possibility. It’s a cup and the playing field is weak. But I’m not hanging any hopes on it based on the teams we’ve played so far.

TBF, it's the only thing I'm excited about this season. It's clear 1/4 through the season that we're not going to finish in the top 4, much less mount a challenge. The LC doesn't matter to me anyway, but we're more unlikely to win it than the EL I think. I don't have hope for the FA Cup because we're always shit in it now.

I’d love us to win the Europa. Great competition, some fantastic old teams and absolutely our level.

I’m a cynic these days but I’m largely done with the CL. It’s a tired format and a dull competition until the semi finals when the usual suspects go head to head. The Top 4 stuff is cringe. Larping as some big deal when you’ve finished 4th has and always will be naff.

As for the EL, our problem is that I think we’ll come unstuck against any decent Italian or Spanish side, especially away from home.

Guys we aren't winning the fucking Europa league, it's delusional.

Even if we somehow did, it would save Ange his job but it shouldn't. We'd just be like Ten Hag and United, one step forward two steps back with a lame duck manager. Stuck in purgatory.

League performances should always be the litmus test, and it's where United have fucked up by keeping the manager because of cup wins.

Not convinced. I think our defense and keeper are a total myth, and our forwards are inconsistent.
Our defence would be better under a competent manager. I am convinced. Under Ange we've been defensively awful the whole time he's been here. The only reason our goals against column isn't so bad so far this season is because the opposition have wasted the chances. There is absolutely no solidity to us at all.

i think theres a clear decline in intensity from everyone too, the players and the clueless pallbearer looking clown on the sideline. that tells me theyve all given up, just sack the cunt so we can all move on.

Pallbearer, lol nailed it. Exactly what he looks like.

On points, we're closer to 16th than we are to 4th. The performances have been inconsistent, verging on truly awful sometimes, and at the end of the day, the table doesn't lie. Both him and the players were bailed out massively by the amazing start last season that managed to paper over the cracks of a lot of shit performances that followed. But that isn't happening again this season. Unless we string together a good sequence of wins in the league to at least look like challenging for top 4, then he won't be here much longer.

The fanbase is part of the culture of the club that Conte was talking about.

The fans have a losers mentality and an inferiority complex compared to the "big clubs"

And when I see people demanding better, actually signing top quality, proven players on big wages they get slapped down with "This is Spurs we don't operate like that"

Levy must absolutley love it here, he's turned this club into his image.
Spot on mate.

💬Ooohhh... just give me good football and I'm a happy BillyBob 💬

The cos player is lurking and handing out laughing emojis so beware, although to be fair to him he's trying his best to hold the fort down whereas his fellow cultists seem to have melted away.

the whole team would be better under a competent manager not just the defence.

its quite scary listening to a lot of fans that think hes nowhere near getting the sack. that just shows you where the club is, we allow these poor standards.

i think chelsea was 38 games ago now, 56 points since then. thats 9th. an entire seasons worth of games and we level out to 9th. this squad is not the 9th best in the league. hes being outdone by managers with weaker resources.

if hes to stay the season i dont think wed even do as well as 9th. newcastle will overtake us, united will if they make a change, probably another too out of brentford, bournemouth or fulham. wed finish bottom half.
